If it is the same one, they changed the front end. The first one has peeks sculpted on to fenders above the headlights and a nose job. Very possible. The first one always has a vinyl roof like they messed it up when chopping it.
They are definitely the same car. The molded eyebrows over the headlihts are the giveaway. The yellow verion was built by one of my nieghbors, Denny Thorp in Fontana CA around 1971 or so, sold by Denny a year or so later for about $3500.00 . It was really a nice car yellow pearl paint, wild pinstripe flame job by Bobby Kossey, Hydraulics front & rear. The vinyl top was kind of a nylon material like they used on 50's Caddy roofs. I think you are right about the vinyl top used to cover bad body work as the story was the the top was chopped at Denvers Choppers in Berdoo one night after much alcohol was consumed. Anyway that was a really cool car that I wanted real bad as a high school student. If thats the same car as in post #96 I'm glad to see it survived
Here's a 57 that I was told is for sale if you want to finish a super high buck hot rod. Frame and interior by Rad Rides. PM for details. Not mine, FYI only
That 57 nomad is being built by mark and aaron at a&m deluxe customs in cornelius or. It is super cool and they do out standing work. You should see the hood scoop.
I've posted this on other threads, but since this is a Nomad thread, why not. I Photochopped this one, original photo is from Dave Lindsay, I believe.
I have a friend here in Missouri that has a chopped 56 Safari project. He doesn't have glass for it and it's in black primer but the chop looks like a pro did it. To bad it's sitting outside though. I'll try to snap photo's the next time I'm there. I've got a 57 Pontiac 2dr wagon and a 58 Chevy 2dr wagon in the back yard right now. No pics though.
This car was in winfield ,ks in the late 80's early 90's. the guy drove it everyday and traded it for something else. I don't know where it went, but I see the guy everynow and then > i will ask if he knows where it went.
I am a "Nobody" around here. But i am gonna tell you that a 1955 Chevrolet Nomad Coral/Gray is about the best lookn twotone creation made by man. That,s my story, n im stickn to it !

Agreeed! For some strange reason I'm really digging the cragars over the astros. But either way, they don't get any prettier than this one. Absolutely drop dead, pitch perfect, stunning! Hot damn.
My 56 Nomad I got last year from a hamber in Texas. Hope to have it done this summer. All I know is I have to sell more snoballs this year!
check out the new thread Jim Aust started with the recreation of Sam Hollingsworth done by Richard Graves, Dennis Ricklefs, and more http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=315776 yet to be striped.
Hey, I have a '57 Nomad that is just starting to show signs of rust in the roof. How do I stop this from rusting again after I have it fixed? What caused this and how do I correct it?
