AC-130U SPOOKY AERIAL GUNNER! I flew as a gunner on the mighty MH-53 PAVE LOW up until '06, then crossed over to gunships, still there today. My unit would have been responsible for that dark night! Gimmme your info, and the date, I'll see if we still have the footage. I doubt they will, as I was on a 53 that got shot down near Fallujah in 04, they don't have the tapes, and our birds are on the same base! haha! I have a couple days in that AOR!

  9. uncle called me august 1966, freed me july 68. i remember it well graduation from basic at ft. dix in company formation and the di calling out orders, everyone it seemed was going to ft. benning or polk. damn my name comes up ft. monmouth, he says where the hell is ft. monmouth. jersey shore an 1 1/2 hr from home. i always tell people i hit the lottery of life. ended up 14 months in germany. met alot of good guys, some have kept in touch with. downside is alot of my friends went to nam, some didn't make it back. when i got separated in 68 as soon as i left the gates we pulled into a gas station right there at rt 206 in bordentown and changed back to civvies. the place is still there, everytime i come home from atco i have to stop in and fuel up for old times sake.

Christmas 1970. My artillery unit was on a firebase not far from Hue. This was a nice change from living underground in holes we dug. Didn't last long and we were on the road again to support the invasion of Cambodia. Mike

When we worked, we worked hard and we were serious. But, when we played............!!

Nobody gave much thought to safety, as you can tell. Can you imagine being the CO and having to send a letter home to the parents of a guy that might have fallen?
