I know the owner. It's a driver if you call 14:1 compression a driver. Huge roller cam. He lives in the valley but drove it to the Long Beach swap meet. The only thing he does is carry a cell phone in case of breakdown. He has another Willys truck that is an old barn find drag truck. Straight axle, radical chop top and shortened. Hes had that one since the 70's.

This belongs to a Hammer that lives near me.
Cool little 55 that reminds my buddys and I of the "White Lightnin" a 55 that a friend owned back in the 60's....

Dreadman, natty cool pix as always!! I always am excited to see coverage of this Socal Classic show by the great Mooneyes group. It looks as though you all just escaped a rough storm. Wearing jackets at this event is unusual, but I would take it over our neg 10 wind chill index today.Thanx brother!!~Sololobo~

:D Thanks for posting all the cool cars the photo's are great. It's a good thing you skipped taking photo's of gassers, in their street form their just butt ugly, they look good at the drags were they should stay.

    CRUISER

  19. I was standing on the fence when that guy made that run. During the burnout I said to my buddies "There's no way that car is going to go straight" It shook the tire, and they were street tires. He then went to stage and rolled right passed the lights. Someone commented that it was probably his first time down the strip. When he launched it was spinning pretty hard, never hooked up. When it shifted he was still spinning and there was no way that car was going straight. Sure enough it found the wall.
Went and talked to him afterwords. It tore the right side upped and lower control arms right off the frame. Didn't look like great penetration on the welds. Little dent in the frame rails and the headers on the right side is toast. Small scrape on the right door. Pretty easy fix actually once it gets to a shop. He said he didn't even know it was spinning the tires. He seemed to take it pretty well and was just waiting for someone with a trailer.

Drags were scheduled in advance from 10am to 11:30 & then from 12 to 1:30 but ran closer to 2pm. Weather didn't play a role in the schedule.
Not enough racing IMO. Should have run the cars from 10 until the end.

This must have been the Rod & Custom cover and feature car corral.
