My 41 ford PU was purchased by my faughter in 1964 as a small child I remeber working on it with him and taking test drives around the neighbor hood sitting in the bed of the truck. I can remember breaking axles on the orginal rear end back then as well.
The truck was given to me as a junior in High school (My high school ride) The timing chain was bad on the 283 chevy engine and the battery was always dieing so I would always park at the top of the bolck when at school so I could cost down and pop the clutch for the dead battery then once the engine got hot I had to always adjust timing to get it started. well I tore it completeley down in 1980 went thru the engine replaced the 3 spped for a 350 tranny, striped the 15 coats of paint did the body work and other things and got it back on the road. lots of fun then it sat for a rew years with me firiing it up and taking it around the block once in awhile. I built a few other cars in the mean time. just pulled it out this year and have been having fun with it. now im getting read to tear it down for paint a little rust repair and just a detail of the truck. ill have to post picks some time. Oh and I finaly got my 3 year old grandson to take a ride in it for the first time last night! he has been scared of it until ytd! so if I keep it long enough he too can have memorys of the truck as a child!

I've had my 50 Merc for over 17 years. I bought it at 19 yrs old. I drove it in grey primer for about 10 years. At 25, I was struck with cancer. I used to go to the garage and sit in the car after my chemo treatments. It was theraputic. The car is now part of me. I've been offered a lot of money for the car, but I can never sell it. It is part of my family. You can read the entire write up on the car at www.stockandcustom.com I was in the third issue, under read more. It was the cover car. Love my baby.

I got my 37 chevy p/u in 76,I got it from my dad who got it from his uncle who I think bought it off the original owner back in the 50s. My dad bought my 55 sunliner new and it was his first and only new car and was a daily driver untill 68 when a wagon was bought and it was parked,I was on him for years to do something with it but never did and when he died in 98 I started working on it the next year after I finished the 37. I have had my Vega since 1979. Must be the longest time anyone has owned a Vega. At first I had a turbocharged 302 GMC in it alternating with a 270 depending on which one was running. Then a 460 Ford. Then a 455 Pontiac. Then a 392 Chrysler. And now a 352 Packard V8. I have had my roadster since '84. I had my 32 Ford from '65 to '98.

  5. Since 1959 and still driving it, cost me 75 bucks and it came with a chopped top and Packard grille, Hank [IMG]

Great thread, have had my '50 Pontiac for 25 years. It started as a 4-door,but I cut it up and changed it to a coupe, and chopped it in '86.It sat around unfinished for another 17 years, until about 6 years ago when I got it back on the road.Sure feels good to use it again.

  9. I've owned nine cars.
Of the three I now have one is a '72 Fairmont (aussie) which I've driven daily since 1988.
The other is the first car I owned which I bought in 1980. It's a '56 Holden. These were the most popular customs in Australia from 1960- 1973-4.
The dream here is rolled pans, arches, louvered hood, chrome reverse, warm inline ( in it ), sky blue candy milk pearl w/ black naughyde- just like the one I saw cruisin' side to side, low & slow with a scarlet twin in Warnambool while on holiday in 1971.

The car in my avatar I've had for 37 years. It's pretty much the way I built it in 1971/72. I also have a 1956 T-Bird I've had for 41 years come the 17th of this month. And a 1963 VW bug that's been around for 24 years.
