Yes, but if you produced a crappy piece while just screwing around and then handed it off to your drinking buddy that night and some years later, said drinking buddy pulls it out of his ass and says "remember that night?" You'd hardly break out your kit and do an ace job of signing it. Rather, maybe you'd go "holy hell, I can't believe you hung onto that p.o.s.! - here, I'll sign it for ya, ha, ha"

It's been a couple years since high school german, but I'm still pretty sure the "house of the flying eye" part is spelled wrong. They got the der to den part, but I can't remember if that even applies. Either way, as far as I know, FLINGER ist nicht deutsch. It seems to me he wouldn't mess up something that he had written so many times.

Yep, I asked a few questions about it, but he was fairly evasive. That's why I didn't bid too high on it.

God damn, your avatar is RAD!

It says, "Did you know that gullible is not in the dictionary?" in German.

Funny, I red FLINGER as FLINGEN, which is the correct word. Go, high school German!

    That, or Jon Dutch.

  14. The line work is stiff and unimaginative, the workmanship is crude.

Compare it to the station wagon/shop truck that 'Dutch did for Barris,
when he had been drinking all night. Not even close.

    Looks bad whatever it is.

Kirk, man, yeah, that avatar is extreme. Was that your Halloween costume this year? Truly scary!

  16. Interesting replies. It brings to mind the saying about the signatures on ancient Japanese swords:"For every ten signed swords, eleven are fake".For what it's worth,I don't believe that Von Dutch;even in the most drunken state possible and deliberately trying to paint like an amateur, could create something that bad.I have seen people who have never held a striping brush in their hand do better.

  17. I was just reminded of a Rat Fink statue I have in my basement. It was painted by a kid....but then signed by Roth. Still cool.

  18. Just found this pic

That's probably your best clue that it's a fake. Looks like a sharpie line to me.

PS: That avatar freaks me out. Especially combined with your listed location - eww!.

PSS: Damn, I checked out your blog and saw the whole series of those pix, what the hell was that a remake of the Village People's christmas album?

I agree with others about the signature not looking right. Also I don't remember him signing anything else as Ken Howard and then Von Dutch underneath it.

I would vote FAKE.... From everything I've read about Von Dutch I don't see any way he would ever sign his work with a sharpie lols...

  30. I don't know if Sharpies were even used then.Sort of like a genuine copy of the Declaration of Independence signed with a ball point pen.
