The HAMB Plastic model group had a model build off that will be voted on by you guys on the HAMB board. We all had to start off with the Revell 1949 Custom Mercury or the Revell 1932 Ford Sedan kits as the basis for the build. This was a 2 month build-off. All models had to be done by Thanksgiving. Posting will be open until Wednesday, December third at 5:00 pm Mountain time. Then we will have a week for voting. There are two categories to vote for. "Best Mercury" and "Best Sedan". Give us a little while to load all of the entries but they should all be up soon! Have fun checking them out and vote for your favorite!!!

We are still getting everything loaded up so check back in a while. I have never done a poll before so it might take me a while.

I know some of us just see red x's when linked to one of the image hosting sites so here's a few attachments of the Revell 32 sedan:

A few more: I've tried to show the best features-hinged driver's door, opened up the rear & added a "sedan delivery" door and cargo floor, some wiring and other details on the engine.

    Hey MO, Cool ride....

  15. No, but there is a resin body that I ordered to mock up my Tudor. I got mine on Ebay but the guys name is Jimmy Flintstone www.jimmyflintstonestudios.com The quality is excellent, mold is taken off a 60s kit, it says it is a 4" chop but it is a 6", trust me.

Here is my effort on the '32 sedan. There is 13 pieces from the kit, all modified a bit. I also used parts from: '40 ford- dash, '53 Ford truck-custom engine and steering wheel, '56 Vicky-front wheels/tires, '40 Willys-rear wheels,'49 Ford-custom taillights, Auburn-headlights. And I scratch built a tractor grill and radiator, mounts for the keg gas tank, carb stacks, headers, center console, and floor pan. The kit frame was Z'd and cowl steering was modified from kit pieces. Door panels are chopped down kit pieces with mexican blanket decals. Bomber seats, skull shifter, keg,and rear tires were aftermarket pieces.

This is my effort for the build off. This is the first time I have built a model in about 3 or 4 years. It took less than a week to build. Didn't get to do it like I would want. The pillars have been slanted. Tailights and front turning lights have been filled. I used a Buick nailhead engine from the Rivera lowrider model. The paint is the Testors one coat Lacquer, the color is feiry orange and used the same brand of clear over it. I really like Revell's verison of the Merc compared to amt/ertl's. I did have some trouble with the interior and the instructions shows that there is holes for the dummy spot lights, I never found them, plus they looked funny, anyone else think so?

For those of you that have asked for details on the next build, check the HAMB model group after this one is voted for. I will put up a post on there with the details on the build. It will probably start January first to give some time for the holidays. I will let everyone know when the info is posted.
