I had second thoughts about going with twin headlight mods on my ute, as I hadn't seen many nice examples that worked, but I'm glad that I did! I had frenched headlights in it earlier that I liked, but I reckon these mods did the trick:).

Chopper, I like the look, just wondering. Are my etes decieving me or are the headlights two different sizes? Is that an Aussie thing?-MIKE:cool:

Hey Mike, no... your eyes aren't deceiving you;).
I've used 7" lights on top and 5" below, to add to the canted look that I was after! And I placed the indicator lights behind the mesh suround.

Saw this in a gallery show, I'm guessing circa the early /70's.

Wow Choppa! I love those headlights! They look similiar to a friend's '57 Lincoln Capri. If you have any other pictures of your ride, please post them up!

    Thanks,

Here's a couple more pics of the ute, and I suppose I better give a bit of a run down on the car as some may wonder about it!
It started life as a 1955 Ford Mainline ute, built here in Australia at the Geelong Ford plant, but this example looks nothing like it did when it came off the showroom floor:D. A lot of the mods are hard to notice, but there isn't a square inch of metal that hasn't been reworked. With the obvious modifications... the roof's been chopped 2 1/4" and the skin was pancaked another 2", the doors have been suicided, the tailgate swings out to the side, the much modified hood opens forward, and as for mechanicals, it runs a 328" full house Y-block (bored out 292ci with modified 312 crank) that revs out to 7,000rpm, 4 speed, & 9". As the car does a lot of towing to swap meets etc, we're planning to drop in a worked FE, to give us a few more cubic inches... and torque;). But this has been an on-going project for nearly the last 30 years, and it's going to continue to evolve:D.

Not being a fan of the aussie utes at all... But that kind of headlight treatment looks really good on the 55-56 fronts!

Great job on the tailights, and tailgate. Well, actually the whole rear section. Did the car come stock with U.S. type 55 Ford tailights? Is that also a different back window?

They came with a basic round t/light, similar to the USA type but flatter. The back window is stock laid down into the chop. Below is a pic of a stock '55 ute rear but with a chrome t/light housing, instead of the painted factory item.
