That is the Motor Reco Special out of Houston Tx. This looks like a drag strip at one of the Air Force Bases in San Antonia ,Tx in 1953. I was there for a event and A.J.Foyt drove the car that day. It IS the car and may be A.J. ??

Jim Martin's "Low Roller" at Bakersfield. Jim owned Clean's Transmission. Car was a staple in So Cal Pro Gas. My racing partner, Charlie licensed in this car, in the early eighties. This picture sent me back to some good times in my racing career.
Thanks to Slotdragster for posting it up.

Here are some pic's of Dan Horan Sr in his AA/FD at the 2008 CHRR. He hit the timing lights, but never got out of the gas. Look at the injector, wide open. The last one is my friend Jeff and I in the fuel pits at Bakersfield right before the run.

Man O Man, what a cool thread. It has taken me a whole week to view all 349 pages. It's unfortunate that some links no longer work, I'll never know what I missed. Thanks to everyone who has posted a photo!

Anyway, it inspired me to register. Here's my contribution and my first post.

I bought this print from Pork Zartman and had it restored. I have no idea who the photog was, my impression is that it was taken at Englishtown.

Here's Carl Ruth's '56 Crown Vic debuting at Maple Grove. This is the first body, the one Carl built himself and Bob Gerdes painted, and the best looking one in my opinion. This is the car that took my Nito cherry.

No the famed S&H red stamp car that you speak of was destroyed in an accident, later to be replaced by a car of similar proprtions but some refinements and partnered by Stellings and Tapia. The car depicted here ran in 67-68. It ran a then unpresidented 6.5 something at the 68 PDA meet. Thouhg it wasnt backed up, it was deemed legitimate as the car in the other was some 2-3 lenghts back while clcking a very high 6 second run. This pictured car ended up in the NW somewhere being run as an injected comp car

Interesting early aerial view of LIONS. No catwalk, yet and the small oval track on the right was built by the track manager, Mickey Thompson, to bring in more families. It was used for quarter midgets and go-carts. Mickey's son Danny raced there.
    Photo is looking south.
