  1. I haven't done to much on my car since spring. But I thought I would show some of what i did get done.

I got my Steering Column mounted. Then I made a cover that fills in from the dash to the and firewall.

Is that some type of pencil rod surrounding the frenched taillight housing?
What diameter did you use (and where is that stuff found?)

    Looks kool!

    That's cool.

Must be something with these cars and those lites. My buddy's dad did that exact thing to his 47 chevy sedan.
I'll take pics and post tomorrow.

    Looks good

Looks good buddy, I agree, there isnt much better a taillight in a torpedo back then a 59 caddy frenched in, something about the curves. I am diggin the flare around it... my sedans tails will look similar in that aspect...but only in that aspect.

  8. The rod surrounding the taillights is 1/4" Diameter. And it is just Plain Cold Roll, found at any metal supplier. I started by bending it around a pipe to get the tight curve. Then tacked it near the bend, then bent it the rest of the way as I tacked until it joined.

  9. Thanks BW. They came out great.

Progress looks awesome man! I really like the look of those taillights in there, really goes with the lines.

  12. Well it has been a while since I posted some progress pics so I thought I would. I finnished the drivers side rocker and fender skirt off. The car is on airbags so i wanted the rocker to sit close to the ground when it is down. And since it has 53 Buick door pods grafted on to it, I had to bring the rockers out to match the doors new shape. So I also lowered the rockers so they are level with the ground when the car is down.

As for the skirts, I cut the fender out and flush fit them into the opening. Then extended the bottom to match the rocker.

This is half of a exhaust pipe, to make a recessed area for the Lakepipe to sit. There is rod welded to the edge for a round edge.

    With the lakepipe in.

  13. This is the top panel that fits the shape of the door bottom.

This panel blends the Rocker, Front Fender Extension, and the Rear Fender all together.

When the car is down I can just fit a 2x4 under the rocker.

  14. Now the fender skirt is clamped on and we are bending the rod for the bottom edge.

The tape shows where and how much of the rear fender gets removed.

    The skirt sitting flush.

And the skirt even with the bottom of the rocker.

  15. Then it was time to take the car outside and stand back for a look!!

It is hard to find level ground at my shop. But you can get the idea of what it looks like down.

Man that's one nice 48.Love the metal work that you have done so far.I was wondering though where will you locate the gas & brake pedal?

  19. Once the brake petal is made it will come in just a bit lower and off to the left of the steering column. The master cylinder is mounted back further then factory was. And the gas petal will be just off to the right of the steering column.
