in case you dont know the guy with the beard and red/white varsity jacket in all the pics is George Lucas........in closing I'd just like to say my dad was a big influence on me as far as old cars, but it was American Graffiti that really put the hook in my mouth when I was 11 yrs old,I'll never get tired of watching it or talking about it.

it's not the plate from the coupe. that one was yellow w/black numbers and was made for the movie with "thx138" to connect it to Lucas' movie THX1138. The question stands. Thanks

Actually, I know what your thinking, but the tag in the photo isn't the one from the 32 in the movie. in the movie it was yellow with black lettering and read THX-138, a reference to the movie THX 1138. Pictured is a modern tag reading 1T1H3X8. Obviously a nod to the movie, but from something else, but what?

George Lucas owns a 3000 acre ranch in northern Calif. called "Skywalker Ranch",tagged as a "movie makers retreat".The license plate in the photo is on display at the ranch.

Portions of American Graffiti were filmed in Berkeley, San Francisco, San Rafael, Mill Valley, Sonoma, Marin County, Concord and Pinole, however most of the memorable scenes were filmed here in Petaluma, June – August, 1972.Google or Mapquest for directions

Has anyone ever noticed that the '32 Coupe used in the movie had the Radiator/shell mounted far lower than the front cowl of the body???

Look at how much of an angle the radiator support rods are in this photo. I've noticed on "copies" of the movie car, the rods are more level horizontally.

I've been using the American Graffiti logo on the side of 2 Gremlins since 1981.Waiting for George Lucas to tell me to cease and desist.
