wow....i am having the same problem.i have a 60 chevy brookwood with a 235...i was told 1958 235 and newer a turbo 350 will work...
I'm no Chevrolet guy, but I think it depends on the vintage of motor you have. Put a TH350 in my buddys 54 and it required and adaptor. I believe somewhere in the early 60's an aluminum powerslide/TH350 will bolt right up.
The only automatic transmission that will work is a cast iron powerglide that came out of a 235 powered car. Anything else will need an adapter.
if you want a later trans behind the 235 you will need to purchase a adaptor. steve at buffalo engineering makes them. they are nice and expect to pay for one. in the $500 range.
Or, for that you could buy a running later 250" 6 that will bolt up to the 350TH and run it instead of the 235" Nothing wrong with a powerglide (if you can rebuild in your area) and are still running the torque tube rear end you need it.
