I finished my 47 Chevy pickup and have driven it about 2500 miles. This is my first project after early retirement. I did everything except upholstery. Chopped top, pie-cut and louvered hood,59 Impala dash, C4 Corvette suspension 49 Olds park lamps, 39 Ford door handles, 47 Ford tail lights. Of course everything had to be "modified" to fit. I bought several parts from members of this forum. It took about 18 months to build. I drove it to the NSRA nats in Louisville and recently Good-guys-Bowling Green. I am enjoying it very much.
Nice work, The Dash is my favorite part. Was the dash an easy fit or a lot of work? Enjoy your Truck!! B.
You have a show winner there. Very cool. Now you need to take it out to Bonneville and see what it will run.
Lookin Good!! Nice stance, incredible interior, that 59 chevy dash if so correct for a custom with that vette wheel as well. It's a knock out , congratulations on a clean & cool build.~Sololobo~
Fedman, The dash had to be narrowed about nine inches. I cut five out of the center and two off of each end, then cut the front to fit against the original shape of the cab. It wasn't hard for me, but I have been cuttin stuff up for a long time.
Nice work, but what does that 'finished' word mean? The only time I was 'finished' with a ride was when I sold it to somebody else to work on it a while. I have a 38 chevy coupe I have had for 34 years. Ive done 2 separate frame off rebuilds on it and its never finished. Theres always some different I want to do to it.
...I've always liked these Chevy trucks, yours is one very nice custom, love that color, the scallops, and all the other mods. Magazine quality.
I guess the definition of finished is presentable to the public. You are right. They are never finished. I have about 75 build pics. I don't know what is best, post them here or in an album?
