33 chevy truck cowl tag

Does anyone know if this tag on the cowl tells the year or just the vin number an how can i find out the year it was made thanks

 

The factory identification numbers of GM cars and trucks were the engine numbers stamped on the boss by the distributor except in states which required using body number or serial number as the VIN.

 

Mine has a Tag on it just didnt know if it would tell me the year of the truck. An help when it comes to getting it registered an also would like to know what it is also. Have been told it was a 33 then again anouther says its a 34 or 35 but thanks for the info.

 

The job number starts with the year followed by a dash. At least that's how my '33 chevy coupe is.

The pre-36 truck cabs are wood-structured. The change came in 36 which is a split year, wood & steel structured bodies.
