Alex I'm gonna have to bust yer chops about doing a coilover conversion. The struts aren't too healthy to begin with, I did buy a pair of NOS Cortina inserts that'll probably work.
i like those little 1600 pinto motors, what's in the capri? (bias ply tires are hard core, doncha wanna be hard core, too?)
It's a 1500 pre crossflow GT engine, big valves, 4 branch header and two barrel Weber, it's not a factory GT, it had the poxy three main bearing 1340 engine originally, it blew up years ago. When this one goes south the car's getting an Olds Quad 4 or, heaven forbid, a Miata engine.
I love Consul Capris, it's great to see them being appreciated across the pond too. Here's a few photos of European custom Capris to hopefully inpire you. The green and purple ones are from England, the metalflake gold one, I think is French. The best (cheap) way to lower a strut front end is cut one coil from the springs and grind the new end flat so that it sits propperly in the cup. Otherwise just look out for some shorter springs from another euro or jap car of a similar size & weight.
Sounds cool, Nads. Any plans for the "grille-area" under the taillights? Whatever happened to the Daimler V8?
May I suggest an Iron Duke? I have this old g.mp.p. catalog that has a ton of parts for them- including a ram air 4 head conversion. They're basically hafl of a pontiac 389, so guts are pretty easy to come by, and I have heard a rumor that any pontiac cam will work, it only uses half of the lobes. a 250 h.p. 4 cylinder sounds like fun. or mabey an ecotech, but it is my understanding that the carbuerated version of the intake costs almost as much as the rest of the motor.
Kick ass Nadeem. I dig the shit out of that car. Let me know if you need a cheap-o 4 banger to sling in there. There are always a few donors out on the impound lot.
Alas, no, I suck, the weather sucks, watch this space. The chrome bill coulda bought a child from Vietnam.
