I haven't laughed much lately.. For some reason, I nearly shit myself when I read that. Funny.

  4. My mom bought me a DOUBLE video (that's TWO VHS tapes) full of 1950s car commercials. I can't imagine sitting through more than 15 minutes at a time.

  5. And another thing is how long it is. A minute and a half, today's commercials are 10-30 seconds.

I think the love of old trucks is inbedded in guys DNA. Even ones who aren't "car guys" will walk across a parking lot to look at an old truck. I get comments all the time on my parts chaser '78 F150. Comments like, "nice old truck", are real common. It's nothing special but it did tow the T to Joplin and back.

    Yep, gotta love old trucks.

yeah. i love old trucks a lil more than old cars. a lot of people like my truck. my truck is just a work horse/beater but it gets me where i need to be. a lot of people try to give me crap about actually using my truck like a truck. i just tell them its built to haul stuff, not sit around like a trailer queen, plus, what's a couple more dings and scratches in the bed?

  9. i love old trucks as well,i use to play in my 53 ford truck when i was a kid
(it was our shop truck) old trucks just seem to "find " me i just finished a 1957 international a-120 4x4 for a customer, and another customer just dropped of his 1939 chevy truck for engine repair

"...It's as easy to handle as a baby carriage..." That about says it all.

I love those trucks and what a cool old ad!

My '79 D100 is my daily driver and I can haul stuff in it too.

  12. Looks like one of my Photoshops... trying out different colors for the primer spots. :D

With a nice truck, you try and keep the bed perfect, until it gets that first scratch or dent...

Then you can start throwing junk in the back from 10 feet away.

i totally took that "driver's safety course" when i got my marine corps drivers license at mechanic's school.

the hardest part was backing a trailer through the first dog leg part of it.

that 53 model was the 5oth anniversary edition... i'm surprised they didn't mention that.

I've had 11 53-56 Ford trucks thru the years. Never had a bad one!

I love the line "Bite Dammit Bite" when he's coming out of the mud hole!

  20. Neat video, gotta love a '53 Ford pick up. I remember going with my father to buy a new, v8, red, 1/2 ton in 1953 - I was 12. We made good use of it until about 1974 when the block cracked. It sat for a few years until my brother put in a rebuilt motor - he kept it and used it until selling a month ago. Was still all original except for the motor. Wish I had a photo.

Don't forget Utes! The style and handling of a car and the practicality of a truck.
    Who doesn't dig El Camino's or Ranchero's?
For those in the U.S. keep your eye out for the new Pontiac Ute, designed and built in Oz by Holden.
