Just talked to the owner again tonight and I should have the car this tuesday or wednesday (depends on some bank deposits). I've always LOVED these fuckin' things but never came across one locally, got lucky to find it VERY local and actually in my budget! I think it used to belong to someone on this very board? Anyways, on with the pics!

Gonna take some time to clean/tune it up before I put it on the road, it hasn't been driven much in awhile. Need to address the window leaks (rear window leaks something fierce!), then I'll start tackling some of the rust & bodywork.
If anyone has any cool pics or advice on problem areas with these cars that'd be rad!

Very cool. My first car was a 59 Elky. Good luck and don't break the taillights, last I knew they were non existant.

Seemed to run pretty good, could tell it needs to be driven. Had the typical symtoms of something that has been sitting for awhile. Gonna do a tune up, go through the carb, check the transmission out & pop a new modulator valve on it. I'll have to do something with the exhaust before I bring it home, it's fucking LOUD!

  5. Ain't that DirtyT's old sled?
If it is, I can guarantee the heater control is good(it came from one of my parts cars);)
    I dig the CA bumpers.
    Good score.

It's got a 350/350 combo, and the side pipes are the only pipes. Headers going straight into those things are LOUD as shit! That's one of the things on my list to work on first, not a big fan of lake pipes/side pipes.

L.A.-Bar You must be too "young" for that term (Yes, I see you are retired.) ;)
It's the common nicnkname for the Chevrolet El Camino.
Rough Spanish translation means "The Road" or "The Way".

    ... or were you kidding?

  23. I love it.

  27. Very nice find...I have always wanted one of these too...almost scored one last month but there was way too much rust hiding in there for the price the guy wanted...good luck with yours
