Wow, there are some wild cars being built for drag racing. Love the A. How many of these are going to the HAMB Drags??? We'd like to bring Maximum Evil, we'll just have to see if the funds allow.

I have been playing with two sets of headers. One for the strip and the other for street.

When I get thru with these lake headers I will post a thread with all the pictures.

Built this as my street strip car. Since April it's seen over 5000 miles of street, and a 12.82@105 at the track. Over the winter it's a bigger engine to run 11.5's and still be able to pile the miles to it...

Fun on the street, and the strip, and certainly not finished, but, it has a cage, a forward manual valve body, 3500 stall 10" converter, th350, kinda-mild, hydraulic-cammed little Chevy...

The rear suspension is not currently up to the task of traction, so, leaving at idle, and pedalling it to hook up, its still gone 8.30 in the eighth, with ( as bad as traction is...) 1.70/80 sixty foots.

Lots more left in it, but the F100 will be done this year, and take over that duty...the coupe will actually migrate its way into a more traditional car...and thus, in all likelyhood, be slower.:D

  20. Maybe... some day...!

    Best e.t. 12.02 before 9/27/08
    Best e.t. 11.72 at MPH 119.87
    -- Edit.... 1.701 (9/27/08)
    -- Edit.... 7.40 at 96 MPH...!!!!

Always came off from an idle and would spin the 1/8th mile before hooking up.

Next it'll need slicks and a cage... But then it's no longer a "Hot Rod" but a race car that would have to be trailered everywhere!

I guess I'll stick with my "Slow" Olds engine and drive it on the street..

mine is a race car that I am trying to make look like a hot rod. I have yet to make a full 1/4 mile pass with the engine that is in it now. So far a best et of 9.60, best mph of 140. Best 1/8 mile et of 5.70 @ 112 mph.

I like to go as fast as my wallet will allow, and I make no apologies for it. I never claimed to be very smart.

  24. That's all the smoke those radials make...!

(See the wisps of smoke behind the tires??? I was spinnin hard... and It does that for the first 1/8th mile!)

I was looking forward to seeing it run at Mokan!

Me... I have a very small wallet so I just try to keep it affordable... I have less than $6,900 the way it sits!

Apparently I'm not to smart either... running a junkyard Olds engine... I can make SBC's and SBF's scream!

I didnt make it to MoKan this year for a variety of reasons, most of them have to do with the commitments other people have made on my wallet. Having a wife, an ex-wife, a son in college and a daughter that is a senior in high school has a limiting effect on the racing budget.:D
I still have a few more things I want to change before I feel that the car will be at least partially accepted at the HAMB Drags. Those changes include removing the "Aerodynamic aid" from the rear of the car, wheels that would have been run in the mid to late 60s, removing the 90s hood scoop and replacing it with a fabricated scoop mounted to 2 fours on top of a tunnel ram and anything else that might land in my lap that would be 60s correct. I guess that comes from me being a child of the 60s.
I have 9 payments left on the ex-wife, hopefully that will free up enough of my income to get the car ready for the 2009 HAMB Drags. In the mean time I plan to be at the Day of the Drags 2008 and the Texas Thaw 2009.

You can go fast on a small wallet, it just takes more time banging on the same ol heap of parts. You would be suprised at how little money I have tied up in building and running the car over the last 15 years. It works out to about $2K per year. I know LOTS of people that spend ALOT more $$$ than that on beer!
