I'm building this rambler wagon for hamb member ramzoom. It's powered by a 13b mazda rotary with a single turbo .
Here's some before pics: [IMG] [IMG] [IMG]
This is the rotary engine installed and the mounts I made: [IMG] [IMG] [IMG]
I Took the stock brake setup and modifyed it to except a dual master: [IMG]
The ramber will have a 5 speed manual trans so I neeeded to install a hydralic clutch: [IMG] [IMG]

A new trans tunnel will need to be fabed: [IMG]
Here's the turbo, wastegate, and intercooler being installed I made a stainless steel header to place the turbo were it needed to be. [IMG] [IMG] [IMG] [IMG]
Here's a few pic's of the 8" ford rearend i'm building for it: [IMG] [IMG]
The plan was to rebuild the frontend but the cost of the parts was crazy. So I installed a m2 front end which had to be modifyed a great deal to make work: [IMG] [IMG] [IMG] [IMG]

I'll post pics as I go along.

Cool transplant !! I have wanted to do a mid engine 13b into a 944 transaxle for my 65 Corvair. Just the thought gives me chills. That rambler should be a ball to drive. Thanks for posting these pics.

    COOL build!!!

I am amazed though how wide that engine gets with all the turbo stuff on it. Shame you had to cut out the aprons. Those cars were built like tanks. For anyone who hasn't worked on one check out the double walled fender aprons.

  15. Gonna be awesome...had one of those little wagons a couple of years ago and loved driving it...but would have been more fun to drive with a heart transplant like that...rev it up and go

Nice car, great workmanship. Shame about the powerplant. A Studie motor would have been perfect.

Thanks guys....Right now i'm getting everything mocked up were it goes such as turbo, steering, intercooler, ect. When it's done I will pull everything off the car I installed so it can be be painted and some more welding will need to be done to the front suspension.I will also sheet in the sides were I cut them to fit the turbo and steering.
I think Ramzoom has some new front end parts for sale that I didn't use.Hit him up if your looking for something.

I do have some stuff available.

    1) Front disc brake conversion kit for the stock 58-60 American

Stock NOS front end rebuild parts..

    New front springs...

I have someone that says they are interested locally so I will follow up with him but if someone is interested just pm me..My intention was to rebuild the stock front end but obviously that changed..

Why a studie engine???? I would have just left the stock engine in it before installing a studie.

Neat ! Just a thought tho , why not plumb the w/g back into exh . and make it nice and quiet .... So when you shutdown V8 's they won't know what hit them ! :D

In the first pic you can see a exit tube I made.........I made the tube so that the waste gate will flow right back into the down pipe. When done it should be nice and quiet..........lol

Very cool. I presume that would have been a twin turbo engine, they look much cleaner with just one big turbo - and you Yanks have rotary swaps so much easier without having to deal with having steering components and the brake/clutch master cylinders competing with the inlet manifold for space like us Aussie's and our right hand drive cars! How much do these wagons weigh stock?

What sort of ECU will you be using? And what is the sender unit on the end of the brake unit in the 7th pic?
