So I'm putting this T-5 in my `63 Chevy C10. The clutch was just replaced before I bought this truck so I'm trying to get by with just a disc change. Existing clutch is a 10" and the trans has the 1" X 14 spline input (I know it's the weaker T-5). Searchings tell me the 9 11/16 disc works well enough so I get one at the local auto parts chain store. Perfection # RCF4201. The same # I found mentioned in T-5 swap threads.

The problem: this 1" X 14 spline disc hub don't fit on the 1" X 14 spline input shaft. { too tight and I see witness marks of the interference on the side surface on the splines of the clutch} No burrs or damage, just machining incompatability as far as I can see. WTF goes on? I mean it's supposed to be the best part made in China.

I saw that 10 1/2" and wondered if it would work with my 10" P Plate.

Would you happen to have the part # number for that clutch, from Speedway.

PM Krylon32 or call Cornhuskers. I'll bet he can help. I got my parts from him.

    Weekend update:

The parts store got a second disc in for me. I dragged the trans with me in the trunk of my car to test fit. Wahoo! the 2nd one fits the splines like it's supposed to.
I guess the 11 yr. old girl in the Hunan Province that makes these disc hubs with a 3 corner file was having an off day.

  9. I thought that era GM stuff was 10 1/2 or 11" (13" or 14" flywheel). Is 10" truck stuff?

    Didn't you know?

Never buy a Chinese clutch made on a Monday or a Friday ;)

I can only guess that the 283 that came with my truck was from a pass. car. The 3spd. behind it, that's coming out, is 1st gear syncro so I know it's later vintage, at least. A lotta swapping could have gone on in 45 yrs.

I'm about to make a similar swap. I'm pulling the sm420 out of my 66 C-10 and put in a WC T-5 with a s-10 tailhousing. I was told that the v8 in the truck is out of a 72 Chevelle. Any suggestions on what clutch setup I should get?
