My pal Mike jsut got his 50 Merc back from Rick Erickson out in Wildomar who did a whole lot of body mods, sheetmetal repair, paint and body. Here are some crappy cell phone pics. Yep, back doors still work.

  8. [IMG]Don't care for the front bumper under the front apron. Other than that...looks great! Get some more pic's when you can. 4dr/Carson top Merc is one of my favorite looks. Looks pretty straight too...Nice grill idea.

  9. Color really suits it.

I saw that car on his ebay adds for his carson tops he's selling. Looks niiice.

What did they do for bracing? Its a surefire way to make a 4 door Merc look really cool and also with the ditch of the top be reaaaallly fun!

Gotta ask. "Wonder why the front bumper wasn't positioned to hide the edge of the front splash pan?"

    Fonzi,

Everyone is pointing out the front bumper and the reason for doing it that way, what was the thinking in this area of the build? The ride looks very cool, thanks for posting the pix's.

man, that thing is killer Fonz....

  22. I have known Eric and his family for years now and they do really clean work. As to the front bumper that is kind of their own thing, look at most of their previous builds and you will see it as well. Nice color for a great car

I will try and get some decent pics. Mike wasn't that happy with the front bumper deal either but it kinda grows on you. Looks better in person. They did a great job strengthening and supporting the frame for the carson top set up. The mods are nice, the flush mounted skirts (they made the rear quarters remomovable for easy wheel access), filled seams, new floor in the trunk, rounded corners, on and on! Mike is stoked. Just needs to fix a few bugs and then the open road is a calling.

Damn! I love the mercs especially 48-51. I hope to get my hands on one some day.

I've been working on wearing down the wife-factor by saying "It'll be a family car"....

So far she likes the idea. ;)
