o/t but had a 85 civic hatchback with 300,000 miles on it, no paint, no upholstery, and an a/m radio. paid $100 for it and put 40,000 miles on it. then when i got my licence back (it was a throw away car, in case i got caught drivein) i sold it for $500.

bought a 51 ½Ton GMC stepside pickemup years ago when I needed daily transportation that could take a few door dings from the lamers in the employee's parking lot. Someone had actually massaged in a 270cuin with on of those two-ton 4spd hydramatics. I drove that truck for two years doing nothing more than normal service, towed a trailered 57 BA from WA to TX, then up into ND to pick up some hot rod parts, back through MT to Seattle again. Everybody and their cousin borrowed that thing to haul stuff, move their girlfriends, substitue ride for a laid-up driver, etc.

I think it had about 90k on it when I purchased it, and by the time I let it go to some kid in Moses Lake ten years later, my recollection is about 195k plus or minus a few feet.

Magnificent truck, I truly wish I had it back.

come on guys i know more of you have had old rides that held up my favorite was my chevy luv top speed was 61mph and i had a fast one also mine was smurf blue at that time they came in 2 colors smurf blue and big bird yellow in the winter it didnt give a lot of heat so i card boarded the complete front of the engine we are talking zero airflow over the radiator i got a little heat was happy and forgot about it next july 95 degree day i notice my heat gauge got up to the half way mark and i had gained about 3mph that was my secret i learned a lot of engines work better with little heat in them you learn a lot with a very underpowered truck like that you can find hp in some of the unlikely places

I have a C10 that I've had for over 20 years. A rust bucket if there ever was one. At one point I parked it in the woods for over a year, and finally had to patch the thing up. Now the frame is shot, so I chopped it off, and mounted the rear end directly onto the stubs. I still plow my yard with it, even though it's a 2 wheel drive, with an open rear end. I've put about a 150 K on it, and when I got it it had 99K showing, with a broken speedometer.

I had 277,000 on my old 77 suburban when I sold it and it ran great. Best dam vehicle I have ever owned.

    I had punctuation.

I also had a '93 Chevy Astro van with the full Gladiator package. That thing would NOT die. I got in two accidents and got a deer, and lost both side mirrors and the driver's-side window at different times, and it kept on running... until I decided I needed to get more than 10 MPG and traded it for a Ford Escort.

I have a 66 chrysler 300 i bought for $250, it was worn out (probably had 200-300K miles on it) but the body and interior were good. My 69 dodge got toatled so i put the engine, trans. and back axel out of it in the 300. That was in 99 and i have been driving it daily since with very little problems. I hope it last at least 10 years yet. I don't know the mileage since the odometer is broken.

my 59 holden was the daily work/family/weekender car for 10 years before i started the rebuild on it but it had its nasty moments,
for the last 3 years ive been running around in a 1984 australian ford ltd, it has electric seats, cold air and it still drives like a new car, i trust it on very long trips up to 17 hrs straight with barely a stop and barely ever put a spanner near it, i bought the car for $600 3 years ago and can not see any point updating it for a few years yet.
