I don't think there can be any BAD pictures taken at Bonneville, that place is simply gorgeous..... Thanks for posting them
Man these pictures bring it all back, was there last year, wish I was there now. Cruisen down the main street, hot rods every where, the night times with every one meeting at the Nugget and the salt, it was great.. Dave
These pictures came from the Popular Mechanics site. http://www.popularmechanics.com/automotive/motorsports/ is the first page of their Motorsports section, where there are links to all of the features they've published about this year's Speed Week. Dave http://www.roadsters.com/
Strombergs97 an myself had the time of our life at Bonneville. Got to "The Bend" around 5:00PM on Saturday and setup our 3 room tent (with the help of our next door neighbors) and had a great dinner at the "Salt Flats Cafe". Got up early Sunday morning and headed for tech. We talked to a lot of owners/crews in the tech line and had a hell of a time. This was probably the best part of the trip. We put up our shade about 200' from the starting line on the fastest coarse (175mph and above) and talk about the sound and smell......sweet! We'd like to come back...............................but with our own car............we will see.
Outstanding pics! Man, what a difference between the terrain in February vs. Summer time!! First (and only, so far) time I was at Bonneville was in Feb '06 while filming a documentary about buying a $500 1962 Catalina in San Fran and driving it home to Milwaukee, Wis. This pic doesn't do the serenity this place held any justice.
First trip to Bonneville for me. I did not take a lot of pics. Was too busy or hiding in the shade to take many pics and was over whelmed by it all. The first pic was in tech after a record run, the 3 older gentleman came over and was asking what cam they where running in the 4 cylinder flat head and other stuff and than started telling them what they had ran in the past and what works best. The second pic is a group shot of one of the Kiwi teams in impound. The where parked next to us. New Zealand Hot Rod was doing a photo shoot of the car and crew. The Sunrise is driving in Sunday Morning the last pic is also sunday morning taken right after the sunrise pic.
Yesterday I posted this in another thread and I'm adding it to this one as well. These pictures were taken at Speed Week 2008 by Duane Carr. You can see all 260 of them here: http://s7.photobucket.com/albums/y287/DCarr511/Speed Week 2008/?start=all Dave http://www.roadsters.com/
