hey, doc, i'm gonna assume you're talkin' to me. actually i don't know everyone. there's about 5 million folks in missouri and there's a couple of dozen that i haven't met yet. i'm just a people person. i have a lot of friends 'cause i collect them. some folks collect baseball cards or ceramic frogs or such; i collect friends.

an example: i was at a cruise night about 10-12 years ago. mostly muscle cars and tri-5 chevys and stuff. BUT, there was a really cool T truck there. no one was around it so i waited around 'til the owner came back and introduced myself. to me he's Ben DeLozier. to you he's BenD. we've been friends ever since. even though we live over 3 hours apart we make it a point to get together several times a year. note that i said 3 hours apart. ben had come to central missouri to spend the weekend with an old college buddy and attend this cruise night (which drew several hundred cars). the buddy? you know him as trailer ed. i know him as Rusty Baldwin. i met him because of Ben. we are all friends now, as are our families.

i could fill several pages with similar stories.

and, as a child we moved around some. i went to 4 different schools (4 different towns) during my 12 years of public school. when you're repeatedly the "new kid" you have to learn to make friends often.

i'm sure you know denise sheldon (hotrodladycruiser; your topless cruisin' buddy). even though you guys live literally around the world from each other, i bet you've met her. she just knows everyone. i'm sorta like that, except that she's infinitely better at it than i am.

I didn't realize there were any local H.A.M.Bers. I'll have to check out Rust Revival next year. I don't have anything that fits the traditional custom category, but maybe someday I'll get around to building that 5 window chevy I've always wanted. Ofcourse I have a couple cars and a few 2 cylinder John Deeres that I need to finish first. Does your group ever go to the Keokuk cruise nights?
