So, on saturday afternoon the cars started rolling to 'Devils peak' and the hillclimb! This year, with a more dusty track then ever!

The a-bombers track crew is about to get ready for this years race.

The Volvo L120 made the track a little smoother since the rainy night made the track a little bumpy!

The Pacecar is lined up to give the racers a preview of the track before their two 'hot rounds'...

I love the stance and the looks of this one...

Track preview. This guy probably knows the track by now since he has been in the race for a few year now.

    It's the same here.

    Last years winner?

One of the first 'sharp' passes up the hill, a well driven sled.

    Kustom Klaus, right?

    Race face!

This guy did'nt hold back much!

A rookie I think, did a great job going up the hill.

It got a little dusty after a few cars passed, my poor little camera and camerabag turned grey, but it got worse later on...

This guy knew how to throw the bike up the hill, full throttle, point and go!

Norwegian pickup, full throttle more or less and one hand on the horn, always nice with waterinjected exhaust.

Another bike, one of the quicker bikes this time, great style aswell.

  2. Awesome, one of the best events going. Its one I hope to get to one day..

This guy won the bike class, very quick and a good driver.

This one had the loud pedal jammed to the floor most of the way to the top.

    Result! :-D

    Once again! ;-D

This time with more angle and a longer drift! 8-O

Always nice to wash the dust from the throat with a beer.

That was all the pics I got from the hillclimb worth showing.
But I found a few rides down by the parkinglot near the hill worth showing. :)

I like this one, subtle and clean!

This pickup looked nice too, nice paint, Astro supremes and a nice slam tend to do that to cars. And a few other tricks of course.

A little german exotica perhaps. Can't help it, I love the stance of the car and the wheels. Check out the camber in the rear... ;-D

After a quick stop in Uddevalla and a not so quick but very tasty Pizza, I headed back the 30min drive to Backamo where the camp and party is. A few new cars had turned up when I arrived.

Steves rod could be seen at the 'waterhole' on the 1st page in this thread. To this year he hade a quickchange axle mounted, the car got some paint aswell, black frame and a very green flake paint made by the owner.

This car was from Norway, the scallop paintjob was made on the Jokers carshow in june this year with rattlecans and a bit of beer. The owner chopped the roof and relocated/lowered the rearlights and lengthened the rear fenders himself, details...

In the big tent where the A-bombers rock n roll show takes place there were among many others a band that played som kind of mixed skiffle/rockabilly, phenomenal speed with the washboard and accordion anyway. :)

There were a lot of band playing this year and I don't have the list of bands here right now, always nice bands playing traditional rockabilly here, great!

Aaron, I'd second that. These Scandanavian events remind me of days gone by... camping in Baja, the Bogs at Watkins Glenn, Plymouth Rock camp ground outside Elkhart Lake, Sebring, etc. But the crowds along the hill climb route are probably far too World Rally Cup crazy to be allowed here. Still, hillclimbs are cool and of course there are other traditional speed events that could be held, like solo / autocross (now at some Goodguys) or one timed lap road racing events where only one car competes at a time and the speeds are fairly low.

So, where can we find a giant camp ground that has some twisty roads or other surfaces suitable for lots of folks and also racing / trials events? My vote is for Bowling Green!!!!!!!!!! Gary

There are only a couple of shows I can think of that are close to the flavor of this show. The Jalopy Showdown is one, which I haven't been to yet but looks like a gas. I think the key is making it a multi day event, with camping, and an event of some sort, like the showdown with the dirt track. I think the hill run is very cool and really goes back to the roots of hotrodding.
Location, hell I have no idea, most of the places I've been are flat farmland, and the rest are too far away from me anyway.:D

Did I miss 'em,where are those gorgeous Swedish women?Off track a bit,I,m hearing rumours the European Sreet Rod Nationals could well be in Sweden next year with a tie up to a World drags meeting. That would be worth coming from anywhere in the world to see.Heard anything or is it one of those we tell you 5 minutes before the event deals???

Looks like most of the photos shown in threads on forums are gone, but they seems to work if you watch them direct from the photobucket site... Try that until I manage to get the payment over to photobucket, I did'nt get it to work yesterday...

    So try: http://s99.photobucket.com/albums/l298/peepin_eyes/car shows/080803 - A-Bombers OSW/?start=all
