I'm on the 7th floor of Parker Center in LA.....that was some scary shit. They're constructing us a new building because this one has been deemed unsafe.
That's the first thing I thought of when I read that, too! Al Jourgensen is godhead...now I'm gonna blast that album in the shop all afternoon. I was UNDER a car on jackstands when the shaker hit. YAY! Fun stuff.... "It's a love affair, mainly Jesus. And my hotrod"
The normal earthquakes are cool, this one hit pretty good plus the fact we're over due for "the big one"
Like I said in another post-Earthquakes are like Orgasms, you never know how hard they're gonna be or how long they're gonna last!
I was wondering "What's shakin'?" in LA. Glad to hear all are O.K. so far. Hope that's the case for all. One thing I don't s much miss having gone through the Northridge quake in '94. Too many friends were effected by that one.
The cool thing about earthquakes and mudslides is they don't have a season like tornados and hurricanes...not too say they don't all suck out loud, just saying. And yes, it's true what they say about california girls...

I was in Apple Valley and it shook pretty good then the rolling up and down. Not too bad. Born and raised California guy here.
Well I've been through all those quakes you mentioned except the Sylmar quake(wasnt bornt yet) and yes I agree the other ones were a little worse BUT I live about 5 miles from the epicenter in a house bulit in 1926 with no available earthquake insurance, I could tell you my mind was goin pretty fast and I was pretty dam scared as I was standing below the bathroom door frame with my fingers crossed trying not to loose my balance watching the ceiling fan sway violently, and then losing my power for an hour. Other than that, it wasnt as bad as I thought it would be, thankfully!
I was stopped at a red light in Chino Hills when it happened. I thought some M.Fer hit me but when I looked back the car behind me was way back there that's when I seen the street rolling and the buildings/light poles swaying. It was cool. Got a little motion sickness but I'd do it again. It's a different feeling when you're outdoors, there's no noise to scare the crap out of you.
<HR style="COLOR: #e5e5e5; BACKGROUND-COLOR: #e5e5e5" SIZE=1> <!-- / icon and title --><!-- message --> I jumped in my 55 Pontiac in front of my house about to drive to lunch and it felt like I jumped into a softly suspended car with no shocks. At 1st I thought I broke a shock mount, but it kept going. Then, I thought one of my neighbor kids was pushing on the back bumper. It's epicenter's near Bad Bob I think. Bob, did it knock a flame off the Merc? So, was it an earthquake, or a pre-shock? Our quakes aren't that subtle. I hope that was "IT".
Getting way off topic here, but the Youth Brigade that sings that song is pretty gay compared to the ORIGINAL Youth Brigade... real punk rock.
Gald to hear all are o.k. just make sure you get it over and done with before we get there, living in the shakey isles we don't need to get quakes when overseas on vacation.....
The house shook then began to sway. Lasted a pretty long time. For some reason, the really big ones come during hours of darkness.
I will take the shakin, slides and burns over the cold ass weather you guys get. I can drive my truck (no heat-a/c) all year long and might have to put on my thin jacket to keep the chill off! The quake was pretty weak in the desert. I didn't even stop surfing the HAMB while it was going on.
Anybody has an emergency kit ready right now? What do you have? On days like this I always remind myself to put something together one of these days....
