My boss bought this old 32 Ford 3 Window gasser from an gentleman up in Columbus Ohio last year.

I figured I would throw it out there to any of you guys and see what you know or could dig up.

    What we do know:

It was raced by the Russels Transmissions race team from Dayton Ohio

It was raced all over ohio, kentucky, indiana, and tennessee in the late 60's early 70's. The owners name was Reynold Russell from Dayton Ohio. The car ran in the low 9's at 140 mph in 1969-70, which was right on the national record for C/A. It now has a Shirley Muldowney Hilborn injected HEMI.

It will be preserved in the condition it is in now and will get the correct 392 Hemi put in it.

I heard rumers of that car for years.I finnally got to see it at columbus.I know it ran an early injected hemi.At least that is what i was told for years. The man that raced it is still running early injected hemis.Although i havent seen him for a few years. There is a gentleman named Ed Crowder that ran the local drag strip back then.He can probally tell you a lot about the car.Get rid of that late model engine and put a early hemi in it.Wish i could have bought that car.

Mynameisnotpete Try getting a hold of Ohio George Montgomery or Chuck Finders .They have been going to the Nostalgia drag races held here in Ohio at Thompson Raceway as celebrities the last couple of years . OhioGeorge might be your best bet since he was out of the Dayton area. You might get a hold of him by contacting JohnShapiro ,editor of Cruisin Times magazine. Try Cruisintimes.com and send John an Email

  22. You have GOT to restore that car to original...NOT 32, but the early Hemi. Cars like that are Museum pieces and should be treated so...

I can't see the Pics here at work due to the firewall but there was a Larry Russell that raced a 57ish Corvette called MR. Clean. Could this be a car that he ran before the Vette? He ran @ Pence's alot and was always in the money.

i know a little bit about this particular car. it was raced all over ohio, kentucky, indiana, and tennessee in the late 60's early 70's. the car never had a small block in it.....just a series of 392 hemis.
i really wish my dad would have never sold that car :(. the owners name was Reynold Russell from Dayton Ohio. the car ran in the low 9's at 140 mph in 1969-70, which was right on the national record for C/A. he is 75, not 85.........and we now race a blown hemi altered whenever possible. we had a few problems with getting the information copied for the gentleman that bought the car. i am sorry about that. i know this thread has been up here a while, so if anyone can put me in touch with the 235 kid i would appreciate it.
    thanks,
    Darren Russell

Why do you call it a GASSER?

Gassers ran GAS class, Altereds ran ALTERED class.

    Just curious

  28. Why WOULDN'T that car run as a gasser? Full fenders, lights, interior, street equipment, minimum engine set back, looks like a gasser to me.
