wow... I just realized I don't have enough cars.

    1. driver shitpile Volvo

    2. 61 dodge dart that needs brakes, but it is registered and insured

    3. 49 chevy coupe waiting for my sorry ass to put it back together

    4. 1970 BMW R75/5

    5. 1/2 of a 73 Datsun pickup which is now a trailer

    6. 78 chevy motorhome. which is the newest car I've ever owned.

there is no such thing as too many cars. there is however such a thing as not enough money or not enough room

  2. I have about 40 at home, almost all of them are saveable projects (not for parts), some are complete runners.

Probably another 100 parts cars and/ or projects in storage elsewhere.

It only becomes too many when the county gives you trouble. I just can't let this stuff get scrapped. That is my sickness. If something comes up for sale and I have the cash in my pocket, I go get it.

Most of the stuff is for sale.

I have 7 vehicles plus my wife's driver.

    2006 Dodge 3500 CTD 4x4 (my driver)
    2002 Nissan Maxima (wife's driver)
1930 Model A Sport Coupe (not running)
1966 Plymouth Barracuda (restored and running)
1968 Plymouth Barracuda convertible (painted but not assembled)
1969 Plymouth Barracuda fastback (total project - haven't even started)

Last vehicle in the list is my 1990 Winnebago. I use it for camping and tailgating at Georgia Tech football games.

I think I'm good in terms of how many. I may get one more. I think the wife wants me to get her a project. But, only God knows what kind of project she wants. I think the question of "too many" is up to each person. My wife wants me to ditch the 69 Cuda. But, I ain't having that.

  11. Two transport rigs...
When you can move three at a time, they add up fast.
When I had the shop, most of the cars in the yard were mine.
    What is too much?
Well, I can see a daily for mileage/comfort, a truck for chasing parts, a finished project and one in the works.
So, I have WAY too much.
When you have to store them someplace else, it's too many.

  12. Now, imagine you have to move into town and work from a two car garage...

92 Z71 w/290,000 miles on it. Just took it in to smog and it FAILED but not by much. It will pass the next time. A 31 Ford coupe I bought from H.A.M.B.'s very own movie star, Jordan. 1947 GMC one ton panel that I just sold on ebay, still waiting payment. An all steel chopped 34 Ford 2 door sedan thats in pieces, but all the pieces are there and a 1934 Ford 5 window that I just picked up from a guy that has had it since he was 13. He is now 46. An old bracket racer, but it is unmolested. Not chopped, not shaved all windows work including the back and front. I can't help myself. If I have a couple extra $'s I always have my eye out.

Five, and I almost bought a total basket case rusted out '48 Dodge conv last week, stopped myself, but then again, maybe there is someplace I can park it where the neighbors won't be able to see it.

Too many, but not as many as I had at the beginning of the year. Accumulating is fun, but I'm at the point that I'm trying to fix it so that if I croak the wife and kids aren't calling me a dead inconsiderate turd for leaving all that crap around. They like it, but I'm the main one that knows what to do with it, and how to keep it going. So...projects are being put at least into one recognizable pile, and I am prioritizing what I really want. It isn't important to me to save ever unpolished diamond I stumble into like it used to be, I pass 'em on to friends to buy instead. I'm down to a mere 17 cars and trucks now. All but two of 'em run and drive right now. I want to own stuff now, and have found that sometimes I feel like it owns me. I think a daily driver apiece, one car and one truck, is fine for semi modern stuff. I can't come up with a good number for the older stuff...there's an excuse for keeping most of it, but I think I'd rather have one diamond than 1,000 rhinestones. Too many vehicles is too expensive to keep up with legally and maintenance wise. Even billionaire Leno has his limits, I think it is about 150 each of cars and motorcycles. For us as a family it is more important to be debt free with some money in the bank than to have too much crap laying around. As an admitted junkaholic, I am now indulging in a few way cheap ($50-$75 complete, turning over, no rust, good titles) Honda CB750's so the kids and I can build a few fun toys for not much money. The itch can be scratched cheaply and without eating up too much room. I'm lucky, the better half doesn't say I can't buy junk, but then again I'm smart enough to know that it's not the best for us to build up the world's largest collection of highly undesirable relics. Basically, the goal is to fix it so that when I kick the bucket, it'll be easy for the family to get out from under what they don't want because it is intact/running/titled with only one or two projects at the most. If I last a good while, then I'll probably still have one fun ride to the end.

  20. Like it's been said before, "You can't have too many cars, just not enough money, time or garage space for them."

With 3700+ square feet of garage space thats full, I have been trying to control my addiction. I also keep my enclosed trailer in another building that I have with 2000 more square feet but I am renting the rest of it to keep me out of it.

It's definitely an additction, although much less harmful than gambling, booze, drugs, or sex (well, maybe not sex unless you're paying Elliot Spitzer prices for it!).

But, my favorite saying is "REHAB IS FOR QUITTERS".

    So here is my harem:

1932 Ford Roadster (old glass Gibbon 8 year old 48K driver)
1932 Ford Brookville Roadster (under construction)
1932 Ford Model B Roadster (wife's car, completely restored)
1932 Ford 5W Coupe (original 53K gennie driver)
1932 Ford 5W Coupe (fendered, 355 tunnel ram, 4 speed, metal work done, ready for paint)
1932 Ford 5W Coupe (roller, stock frame, no engine)
1932 Ford 3W Coupe (built in 1974, old restorod needing a complete redo)
1932 Ford Pickup (just finished - almost, still needs interior done)
1932 Ford Tub (old Tudor with no top, flathead powered, could use some work or a better body)
1932 Ford Cabriolet (body with fenders that's chopped 2 1/2", metal work done on a new Kiwi Konnection frame)
1932 Ford Tudor (project body and Roadster Shop frame, 4" chop, needs metal work)
1932 Ford Fordor (no frame, body chopped 2", roof filled)
1934 Ford 3W Coupe (original amateur restored driver)
1940 Ford Tudor (original amateur restored driver, needs engine O/H)
1957 Chevy Nomad (needs complete resto of cherry body)
1986 Burro 13' Travel Trailer (restored)
    2000 Indian Chief
1999 Chevy Crew Cab (Big Block 3/4T trailer puller, parked waiting for cheap gas!)
    2001 Featherlite 26' enclosed trailer
1998 Ford Ranger (4 cyl/5 speed daily driver)

Yes I do have to many and always looking for the next good deal!!!!

  22. I've got my 1940 Plymouth Coupe, a 1974 Jensen Interceptor, a 1973 Dodge motorhome that's far from stock, a couple of 1989 Shelby Daytona turbos and a Dodge Magnum for the wife....

I've had 15+ cars and trucks at one time, not junkers but nice cars. I've had two motorhomes and a trailer at the same time before. I get a weird idea and just can't stop!

  26. By that standard what does it mean if you have a lot of cars that are rusty, well-worn and missing parts here and there?

    (that's a rhetorical question....)

  27. I guess it means your wanker is full of cancer and missing some parts?

    3 at the moment.

    1956 Ford F100
    T Modified with a 270 GMC six
    1955 Plymouth Savoy

Then there is my daily driver pickup and the missus has her PT Cruiser.

Problem is that one of the biggest swap meets in New Zealand is on tommorow so the list could change either way before the day is over..
