Mocked it up a month ago, got around to actually doing it this week. Cut the center piano hinge out of a stock Model A hood. Wanted a '32 and up style hinge instead. Started with a "universal" 48" center strip and a couple of the hood hinge strips Classic Auto (Obsolete) and Dale's offer and cut them to length. Used '32 front/'33-'36 rear hood hinge brackets on both ends. Those hinge strips are weird, they need to be horizontal but the flange is vertical. So I had a couple 90* strips bent up and spot welded them to the hinge pieces. Then spot welded the hood tops to those. Used pieces of another hood top to add another 4" to the front and make it match the narrowed '37 shell. I plan on doing hood sides too, but might just run the hood top alone for a while, and figure out a way to hold it down temporarily. Shot some satin black on it for now. I kinda like the black on the hood. It needs to be wheeled out a little, I kept most of the shrinkage down when welding but couldn't keep it all away. I'll blast the whole hood and finish it out when I paint the car.

Every time I see that car it reminds me of the movie "rocketeer". Great looking car, the hood sets it off. Love the front view.
Looks GREAT!!! Iv'e love this build since you first posted it. Wonder what it would look like with the headlihgts dropped close to the frame height?

I dig the Blue hues. Maybe good ol Ford Washinton Blue? The hood sides will really finish this thing off.
