Can I make a 4 door Buick cool.......

I thought I recognized that yard..

 

I grew up thinking 4 doors were not cool. Times change but I don't.
Consider the math. It costs the same amount to fix it up and it's worth a fraction of what a 2 door is when you'te done and way harder to sell. Plus it takes twice as much work to have a car half as cool.

 

I say, leave the exterior alone, swap the motor to say, 455 and drive the doors off imports.

That or mild drop, aged pinstriping.

 

Mine started out as a four door. The only reason it ended up flat black is because it was five different colors when i got it and flat black is 99 cents a can. It won't be flat black once the body work is done and the glass is back in. If mine had looked half as nice as yours when i got it, i would've left it.

If everything works I wouldn't change a thing about that car. I know leaving things alone ain't Hot Rodding but that is one sweet Buick. I wouldn't even lower it and take a chance on screwing up the ride quality. Nothing rides like a Buick. It's been said but, you can put the whole family and everybody's luggage in it and cruise all the way across the country in that bad boy and do it in style. I would also skip the caps/WWW's route and go with a set of Buick road wheels with Wildcat center caps and some nice white wall radials, (yeah, I said it). If I had to upgrade from the long 8 and Dynaflush I'd have to go with a Buick 455/TH400 set up but, a Buick 340 or 350 with a 200R4 for hwy MPG might make more since in the long run. At any rate, please don't put anything but a Buick engine in this car. Nothing pukes me faster than to walk up to a nice old Buick and find a SBC under the hood. A Buick with a Chevy in it has no soul.

 

Some times you gotta watch out for those 4 door Buicks.

Lower it enough, and nobody will even notice its a fordor. Shiney paint.

 

This is what to do with an early 50's big GM 4 door...anybody seen this lately? I built it in 83-85, and traded it to a guy from Pontiac in 94 or '95, who sold it to a guy who called me once, who said he had a summer home in Plainwell MI. I've never heard from him since, nor seen the car.

 

i wouldn't strip the paint !!!
there are tons of people who want the worn paint look that's REAL.
you could always shave the rear door handles, which would kind of hide the 4 door look.
throw some wide whites on it, a set of chrome reverse wheels, lower, it and throw some loud pipes on it, and you're in.
DO NOT flat black that car !!!!

Beautiful Buicks that you guys have on here.

 

Not a Buick but it it's a moredore, and satin black. Fun to cruise in though. Lower it and enjoy it for what it is.

leave the paint alone. make the small changes and drive the shit out of er.

 

Four means more to love! Easy access to back seat... convenient for those summer nights.

OK, the barn paint will stay. I buffed out the scratches in the trim and it looks great. I even put some polish on the hood while drinkin a few beers...not bad.

So far I have gone through the brakes and steering. Next I will tackle the suspension. Thanks for all of the input, I'll posrt some updated pics when I get it dropped.

If its cool to you.. its cool.. to hell with what everyone else says... I have a 4 door c-dan.. and I think its the coolest thing out there.. cuz its mine... and don't do the flat black thing...

 

I tend to agree with the general opinion here , get it low an WWW 's but forget the bags an get some mild stripes on it an be proud of the condition you got it in !
