    Hey,

That's got some killer 'flow' to it....beautful lines and work!

Jus' a dumb question......Why are you gonna clear a solid colour
like black? The clear will, in time , be the first thing to fail on that
paint job, even if shot in aircraft epoxy! Why not coloursand and
wheel to perfection, allow the job to flash, and smother in straight
    carnubba wax.

DCC will in fact stand the test of time. I don't know if anything looks as good as black DCC, to me it just looks so much deeper than black in a base/clear.

hehe, Everything I do is wrong, I know no other way...:D I see no problem using base/clear either, as that is what I do most of the time. Either way will be fine and last a long time if done correctly.

Looks like you've got a lot of hours in it, hope it turns out great all covered in Black. Seen the before pic a few times but I think seeing it next to the latest shots really emphasises the work you have done, Great work man!!!!

    Hey,

Once the UV screeners in that urethane cross-linker get the shit kicked out of them from the ultraviolet rays hittin' that black base-
coat, both incomming and outgoing, that finish is history! Maybe in
a part of the world where the sun only shines four months of the
year it would live alittle longer, but not much.
PPG, Dupont, Sikkens,HOK all have major UV clear issues. Any
paint rep who tells you other wise, is a stranger to the truth!
I made good money in the 70s & 80s refinishing OEM vehicles,
brand new vehicles, didn't matter who's name was on them, all
from failed clear paint jobs. Twenty-thirty years on, and millions
of dollars in paint technology later, and still the clear is a problem!

The last car I did in base clear was a few years ago, and it still looks lovely....Now lives in SoCal, by the way.

This will be the third car I have ever painted and I do base clear, cause I am too chicken to try anything else. Wether it is better than single stage, I have no idea.

    See ya, -Abone.

UDAMAN.......Amazing results in exchange for your effort and obvious passion. My 50 is in the mid stages of development, but I have someone with much better hands than mine working on the body. Here's to lots of great miles in that 'Black Beauty'...

You are awesome! A build book would be an awesome thing to have with the car. Good luck with the rest of the build!

Been there! After spending around 70hrs sandblasting and stripping the underside of a Charger (that undercoating crap is hard to get off) I was doing it in my sleep for weeks...worst sleep I ever got!

The Merc looks great...kudos. Keep us posted with updates and pics...

Uhhhhh....well..there is one pic that might have been leaked....It's not a secret or anything, I just wanted to wait till she was done to post. Here she is right after peeling off the masking tape. Lots of work left to do, but this is the general idea.

Thanks for all the kind words. More pics in a few days...-Abone.
