Lowered it a few inches all around, made a shifter, and messed around with some pinstriping... Stock height (it's not even 4wd): Lowered: Just the fact that the center of gravity is a bit lower made it handle a lot better. New shifter: My friend tried out his brush and gold paint on the dash (and I don't know how that bird poop got in there):
Looking good! You need to get a stock rear bumper. they look much better. I like the drill chuck shift knob. How did you lower it? Removed some leafs? I did that with my 64 and it handled like shit. You can reverse the eyes on your stock springs for a few inches. There is a good tech article on it here in the tech section. Mike
I didn't just remove leafs, instead I flipped the 3rd longest one over the main leaf in a negative arc and clamped it all together. This way is better because it lowers it nicely (and you can adjust the amount by flipping different leafs, plus the spring rate remains nearly the same, so its not as soft as a leaf removed altogether would be. The truck only bottoms out over the worst bumps.
