I was just gifted a 1957 F100 292 Y block for use in a 29 Sport Coupe. I don't have a top or fenders, so I'll be running it as a coupster. I was hoping to see what everyone has done with one of these beautiful engines. Pics of intakes, valve covers and anything else Y block will be appreciated. By the way, it came with the Ford O Matic still attached and due to budget constraints, I plan to run it as well. I look forward to seeing your pics.

Dude, where do you guys get these free engines?

I don't have any photos for you, but just gotta commend you on your engine choice. They're pretty engines.

I've posted this 1000 times. I also threw in a before shot. Hope to be driving it by the end of the summer.

Mine is being rebuilt due to major oil leak from bad thrust bearing. Bored 0.030 and waiting on my new Isky cam to throw it all back in there.

I got 2 a few months ago with a 54 Ford. One is running with a auto tranny. Have not decided if I am going to go with them or a flathead in my 31 coupe or 51 Merc.

see my avatar...i spent a bloody fortune on that 312...latham supercharger, say-why-and valve covers, jahn's pistons, schiefer flywheel, spaulding flamethrower, etc...

I wonder if that thing is actually getting driven now...

  25. Hey, Frank, good to see you over here on the H.A.M.B.! There's a few other folks that are on YBlocks Forever over here too.

If you ever decide to cast a new 4-71 or 6-71 intake for the Y, you would probably find some customers here...(though it's probably not enough to make it worth the effort & cost, dammit...but I keep hoping someone will :) )

    1. Y-blocks

In 1958 first time I mocked up test fit my Y-block into my 28A roadster,I made my own kind of fined valve covers, cus I like fins but had just reg type cover,a few years latter I did finely get some T-bird covers. Was very very lucky to get a T-bird 2x4 intake, hard to come by then.
My carbs were from a wrecked 2x4 Cady, much better then the Ford tea pots.
Cover were done with sheet metal "U" welded to cove and topped off with polished Mica alum edge trim.with chrome fender Ford trim.
I was so low buck that could not by air cleaners I wanted,so put ladys garters around carb air horns to hide big hose clamps with screen doom to keep rock out. Pick a bit old like me.
