I am picking up a 55 two door post and it has no doors. Will 56 and 57 doors work? What other body parts are interchangeable? Inner fenders? Trunk lids? Thanks
Doors are Hollander Interchange 805: Chevy 55-57 2 dr sedan, club cpe, Handyman S.W. and Sedan Delivery, Pontiac 55-57 2 dr sedan, Chieftain 2 dr S.W. Deck lids, Chevy 55-57, and 55 Pontiac Chieftain by changing locks
Yep, pretty sure 55/56 inner fenders and radiator supports are same, 57 different. 56 front clip will fit a 55. In fact I've seen a couple of 55 Chevy's with 55 Pontiac front clips; Pontiac coming/Chevy going double-take! Glass interchanges year to year for the most part as long as it's the same body style (sedan,etc.).
The doors all interchange, but 56's may have the door lock holes may be drilled a little lower than 55's & 57's, (not sure on this). I've been told this was to clear the 56 side trim. The front inner fenders are specific to each year. They all differ around the grill opening area. The radiator supports should all be the same, at least the U shaped part. These are specific for 6 cylinders and V8's though. The tie bar part of the radiator support is different for each year though.
inner fenders and rad. supports are not the same in any of the years and pontiac fenders, hood etc. are longer in the front and will not work as they are longer wheelbase and thats where the diffrence in length is, unless it is a canadian built pontiac and they are the same as chevy
Torkwrench is right about the lock location holes. Also, (obviously), holes for the stainless will be in different places.
Yup, windshield and rear window from a 4 door sedan will fit into a 2 door sedan. 4 door hardtop glass (no post) is different. I didn't know that about the '56 door lock position. One of the doors I have for my '57 is from a '56 210 Handyman, now I'm going to have to measure that out.
Upper and sides of front and rear windows will be the same, side window moldings the same, lower front across dash top may differ.
