Hello Everybody! No more snow here. Today was a good day, really the beginning of the new season. My Hot Rod Saturday started from Roadweirdoes' outdoor swap meet and show. This place is really weird, not only because the highway goes right by... The house is also kinda creepy, but somehow I always feel cosy there... You can't really miss the place, it was PACKED. "Felix the Cat"... Funny... I really like Jone's fresh truck This bobber was awesome! Parts? Anybody?
After couple of hours I headed to Helsinki downtown where supposed to be another outdoor show. I really like idea bringing the cars to the people! I think there was about 30 cars, mostly Hot Rods! Pretty cool! Jone was there already... "Do you think those two Strombergs are real vintage or repros..." Such a nice place to get some nice photos! Rad Rods always gather people.
After a delicious lunch with Tomahawk Town and Recyclers people it was time to take off. The band was just starting to play, though. I drove to Lahti, where is this amazing collection of cars and parts of Esko Rahkonen, a famous singer who passed away a year ago. Some of you may have seen the pics on H.A.M.B. before. Today was the first day after winter when they had opened the doors again. Well, what can I say? Still a lot good stuff left. I mean a lot! I tried to find a good-looking column drop, but I couldn't. But still, that's a place where you never have to leave with empty hands... I bought a cool gril shell, an old Coke sign, some tail lights, a steering gear, some steering arms etc... That's all for now. It was a good day. Later, --mika
Looks like you had a Great time, I was stuck in bloody work!Great pictures.I really love that Gold ''A'' truck( Jone's is it?).Really nailed the late 50's early 60's stlye that I really dig.Great work.Shit just seen the last load of pictures,I'd like a day there.
Still? Actually our weatherstation said something about the possible snowing too. I'll hope it's not gonna happen. But back to the lighter side.... Mr. Attitudor, You guys have some nice cars there, over the pond. I'll try to come to visit some of your events this year too. At least Forssa Pick-Nick. Best regards, Jarmo.
Looks like a fun day...I spent the day tearing off 3 layers of roof shingles... Super nice bikes! You should pick up that 37 zephyr...
Jone's truck is so sweet!!! That red Coupe looks badass too!!! Funny, the piles of junk parts there looks just like the piles of junk parts here, LOL!!!!
coupeHEAD:So is the guy in the top hat and white coat Roadweirdo? Yeah, he´s the main weirdo! PLATU www.platuart.com Billy is also in this event flyer:
I was at the downtown show too, the weather was kinda crappy, but that didn't matter since the cars were there! These are taken with my phone, so sorry for the crap quality Then I saw this which was a bit disturbing...does anyone else think this might be unsafe???
Thanks for sharing .......looked like a "boss time" in Finland for sure. Very nice rides brother. I really dug this one......
Thanks for your comments! I appreciate. Keith: I know. That's one of those cars I really should pick up from there... --mika
Do you have any more pics of the blue roadster with the home brewed spit windshield set -up on it? I would love to see more of it.
Sorry, unfortunately I don't have any more of that one. I can tell you that it says "Hudrod" ..on the decklid..so the body is probably a Hudson. It looked like it has a rumble seat, has Radir slicks on the back and has a Nailhead/auto combo. I don't know how well it shows in the pics, but the paint has a really cool flake job I actually really like that car...seen it a few times at gas stations and been meaning to talk with the owner. Maybe Mika can provide more info/pics.
Unfortunately I don't have more photos of that car from Saturday, but found these pics from the last year's show. The owner is on Hamb. The car was originally built as a kustom in the fifties here in Finland.
Slopchop, thanks for the additional photos! Yes, it was a good day. I'm planning to visit the yard this weekend as well... Even though I'm like a donkey with two piles of hay. Don't know which one to eat... --mika
I just remembered I have a video too...I'll have to dig it up. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2ncuOfS0pXE
