    Hey guys,

I am soon to be moving to Reno/Sparks area to start my new career with Union Pacific Railroad and was wondering whats the hot rod scene there like? is there a scene? what good bars are there to go and get a drink/show at? Where's the women who can appreciate a chopped 30' coupe? I am going there wednesday night and staying till sunday as i am gonna go look for a place to live and see what else there is to do in the town, but is there anything going on this up-in-coming weekend??? Help me out so i don't just sit at the blackjack tables all weekend!!!!

    Any Suggestions???

    Thanks everyone!!!!!

August 1st thru August 10 is "HOT AUGUST NIGHTS." It usually draws about 800,00 people. Yes, there is a car scene in Reno.

Not my choice to be moving there, but thats where i am going. Hoping to meet some HAMB'ers out there and get to see whats there other than mountains and snow, but hopefully there's more than just hookers and gambling.

when i get my place built out there ill be looking up some shows and stuff also. im on 40 acres north east of Winnemucca, and hopefully i can start on it in the next 2 years or so. i know if your into prospecting that is the area to be in, that another reason im moving to the area. Winnemucca was the cross roads to the 49ers and the last spot to get supplies before heading out.

There is plenty going on around here. If you have to have someone else entertain you you won't like it. Generally you can find what you look for. Most people who come want whores and gambling. they find it and quit looking. They just spend their money, then bitch because that's all they saw. Then to cover their poor choices the tell everyone back home that's all that's here. Fine, Fuck'em and good riddance. Spend your $$$$$$ and go home! There are several shops building cool cars around and lots of rodders, shows, racing, and thousands of miles of fun roads to drive. You'll find all you need and some you don't. Don't Californicate Nevada! :D

Yeah, Hot August Nights really kind of sucks. The Club Cal-Neva casino offers a two egg, toast, hashbrown, and bacon breakfast for $1.49 between the hours of 10pm and 6am. That's pretty rad. There's all you can eat ribs at the Nugget every Wednesday.

i am not one looking for the whores and gambling. i dealt with my gambling demons already, but i am used to being in a town that has their weekly cruises, local rockabilly dive bar that has good music and the best punk rock jukebox in all of arizona. I think i have beem EXTREMELY lucky running around town in my coupe without ever having the cops mess with me except for the time i wanted to see how fast the car would actually go and i flew by a Highway Patrolman, but i think he knew he would never catch me so he didnt even try (and i know that he heard/saw me fly by cause i am running an open header car!). My job will keep me busy enough that i probobally wont have too much time, but definitely a cruise in the coupe and a beer or five or six is always fun on a weekend night.

I've been here over 5 years now and I still love it. We have a weekly cruise, a lot of shops, some innovative builders, and a drive in movie theater. I play in a band, too and there's a very small rockabilly scene, but we get a lot of good shows come through. We're playing with Throwrag a few days after you leave, and with Lee Rocker soon. The Hideout is probably the bar you would like the most, and I suggest finding a place to live downtown, or close to it. There's a river and trees and you'd be close to what's going on. Pick up the News and Review on Thursday to see if there will be any good shows this weekend. Oh, and we're 45 minutes to lake Tahoe and an hour and a half to Sacramento.

I've got all the wild horses I want under my hood. You can have the one in my yard if you want 'em. You'd probably have to fight Lacy J for them. Glad 49 Lincoln spoke up. He sounds familiar with what you're looking for. Every little town around her has some kind of show and the traditional guys are making a good showing. It won't take you long to meet folks. Don't try to out run the cops though they have radios now and helicopters and there's no place to hide. They mostly leave you alone and you can legally cary a loaded gun in your car! Come to the East '50 Bar in Dayton and I'll buy you a cold one or......You gotta drive the coupe!

I just moved from the Reno area back to Tn. - there are alot of local car shows held by the local radio stations every wed night throughout the summer at different locations every week- Carson City ( just up the road about 20 miles ) has a great car club ( Karson Kruzers ) they host car show and street dances 2 or 3 time a summer - there are clubs in all of the surrounding little towns like Fallon - Fernley - Sparks has alot of fab shops and well known speed shops - the hot aug nites show is a major event as well as the bikers events - hope you like whats there - if you need personal contacts e-mail me - [email protected] - have fun
