I own the pro-to-type for the very first steam powered automobile... oh wait... never mind. its just a 40 ford. ;)

  2. My neighbor used to have one of those when I was a kid in the late 70's.
His always had weeds growing up around it.
Always used to wonder what it was.
That's why I like this site. It's a daily learning experience.

  3. 60 Comet (before they were branded Mercury) and a 62 Mercury Comet S-22

Not too rare for production but getting rare too see any round body comet around these parts.
Rust and neglect have taken most of them to the crusher.

The white one (avatar) and black one (below) are mine.

The red one below shows the condition of most cars, this age, in our area.
It's the only other 60 I've seen in the area.
It only sat for about a week, then probably went to the crusher.
The pictures make it look a lot better than it was.
Usually you have to look outside the area to find a project in good shape.
    It was a basket case.

  4. Squablow,

There's a pair of these in a yard about 5 miles from my house- if you're interested, I can ask.

Chopped 32 Ford 5 window. Auburn dash, Olds with La Salle box. Last time
I saw it some redneck in the OC had it. Had a small block in it (sick). The chrome Dragmaster front end with hairpins were gone and some crap replaced
it. Amazing how some people fuck things up.

I have one of the top rarest cars. 1976 Mustang II. While you might say what the hell is rare about that? I will tell you that the car we just sold was a 1 of 1 prototype for a Ford production car molded (fiberglass mold) from the original Kemp GT IMSA race car. This car has been up until now a myth\legend in the Mustang world. Most thought it was lost. We found it and sold it back to the orignal builder Dobbs Motorsports. Made a pretty penny too. It was pretty wierd looking, but it grew on you.

I had a '71 Plymouth Sport Fury GT which was 1 of 371 and with a build date of 05/30/71 was one of the last GT's off the line.

I had a car so rare once that it wasn't even a car, it was a chair.

I've got a 1 of 3000 '66 Fury Convertible. And yeah, it's for sale. Cheap.

Somebody PM me, buy it, and get it out of my driveway. It's in KC.

Sure I got pics. they are not the best, I have not pulled the official shots off my camera yet. The first pic is of the original race car, the other is of the prototype street car. Like I said, it has to grow on you.

The "rarest" car I've owned..probably this..53XK120SE. An old racer..converted to SBC in late 50s..
When I got it in 1974..GMC 6 and 3spd..but still had the roll bar..single alum bucket and race windscreen.
    Now all new mechanicals..new 350 (med build)..T-10..etc.

Many of these cars had low production numbers for a reason...too ugly, or too expensive.

I have to update my rarest entry, just got it a couple days ago, '70 plymouth satellite 318, 3 on the tree, 496 sold. The fact that it's go mango orange probably brings the numbers way down, I know it's just a 318 3spd. and way O/T, but I dig this shit. I think I got a rare '70 plymouth magnet.

  25. The rarest one I ever owned was this '67 mercedes 230s station wagon. One of 341 made. It looked like a '59 Rambler from the back and people did double takes everywhere I went.
I don't undrestand how to attach the picture from my computer.

    Two come to mind:

    1966 Ford Lotus-Cortina. One of 500 made.

1963 Studebaker Lark "Custom" R2 supercharged 4-speed. I think there were about a dozen of these made.

Probably the 48 Dodge panel truck. Never seen another like it.
#2 would be this 51 Hudson Pacemaker coupe.
