Wow!! The grass even grows the same height under it....and the tires are still full of air......did ya put a battery in it and drive it home?
alright, i'll stop teasin, ya WOOSIES!! it's a 1918 DODGE with a 50 somethin Dodge flat head six runnin a 2x1 intake and home build exhaust. this sumbitch is BAD. it was started in the 80s by a guy named Jim Allen, it has sat for YEARS and came to my buddy Dan Turner as a roller (as Jim had left it) and he has spent the last few weeks gettin it ready to roll. he has put a couple miles on it but does'nt trust it for any long journeys just yet. th eoil in the pan had turned to "JELLO" and was scraped out with a putty knife. that and a rebuild on the carbs is all Dan did to the motor. oh, Dan built the exhaust too. Dan has named it the "Allen Special" in honor of the guy who built it, and becuase he is too stand up of a guy to call it the "Turner Special" since it was mostly built by someone else (Jim Allen).
did ya notice the single "DODGE" taillight??? check out the detail in the gas tank mount and the rear crossmember...
heres the inside. old barn wood for a floor, wood rimmed wheel, the little wire loop on the right side of the dash is the choke cable which goes straight out to both carbs and works great. the old 5 speed shift knob (black knob hangin under dash right of the wheel) is the starter button. it used to have a floor button but it's kinda cramped with the big ole home made gas pedal in the way.
MMMM, COMFY!! anyone got another seat like this one??? he only has one and i wanna go for a ride without sittin on the floor.
check out the headlight repair! now THAT is vintage!! anyone know what that radiator is out of? anyone know what the hell those headlights are from? we can't figure that out...
That's one hell of a bitchin ride. Tell us more on the QuickChange conversion to the early Banjo rear end, please.
don't know anything about the QC except that it was HOME MADE!! pretty cool stuff goin on in this car, aye?
oh yeah, the Mercs are just some junkers my budy Dave drug home to scam a couple parts off of for his other 51.
Gather around this one hardcore trad. fella's. This one is pure yester-year! Excellent photo's! This how THEY did it back then. --5star's--
Mike, That looks like something our buddy Paul Beck could throw together with parts laying on his front porch. Frank
that car looks awsome!i love those modifieds... it would be a crime to chrome a part or even paint it gloss, do you leave it like it looks right now? ratata
[ QUOTE ] Mike, That looks like something our buddy Paul Beck could throw together with parts laying on his front porch. Frank [/ QUOTE ] funny thing is, Dan got this one from Paul. Paul had gotten it from Jim Allen when he decided to sell it. small world huh?? Dan does'nt even like the headlights cause they are too shiny so i would'nt worry about him "ruining" it by making it shiny . the few part he had to fab he has left bare metal so they may age, naturaly! the first guy i ever met who actually wanted his car to rust.
