Ford truck fenders/hood on the front maybe? Not sure on that. Narrow the front a little, different grille treatment, and a slight chop, maybe, just maybe it would look neat. Thats just my opinion.

My dad and I talked to the owner of that car 2 years ago at the northwest motorfest in Boise. He was addament that this car was built by Sam Barris, not George Barris. He has done just enough to it to get it roadworthy and he drives it. He did a bit of work to the interior, because the original was missing. He wasn't planning on doing any restoration to it, just saving it as a piece of original barnfind Barris history. He showed us how the front hubcaps are attached to the hubs so they don't spin while the wheels spin. It was neat to see the exposed lead work, too. Nice guy, and I respect him for preserving the history of this car, no matter how ugly it is.
I took a bunch of detail pictures of the car that day, but apparantly the car was so ugly it killed the memory card in my camera:rolleyes:.
    Tom

I should add that he had some early pics and stuff documenting that it was a Barris build and he was looking for anymore info anyone had.

If that car was built by Sam Barris then it was definitely a low point in his career, and if it was a barn find then I am sure Sam hid it in there so the public wouldn't see it.

The owner of the car (NOT ME!!!!!) had old magazine articles and pictures to prove that it was a Sam Barris built car. I've heard of George Barris taking credit for other people's builds, but not blaming builds on other people.

Now, I'm not in any way trying to pick an argument. The guy who started this thread wanted to hear what we know about this car. Adumb Aussie, this is what I know .

After talking with the owner of this car, it did bring up an interesting question in my mind.

Let's say YOU found this car in a barn and noticed the Barris crests. You did a little research and determined that it was in fact a Barris Kustom and you can have it for dirt cheap. What would you do with it?

I know I would have done a lot of things differently on the interior of this car. But, the interior doesn't show in the posted pics, so I won't get into that. I think leaving the exterior alone and making it driver was a good choice, paint wouldn't cover up the ugly.

I sure wouldn't burn it and pretend it never existed. Will it be be $$$ some day because of the name? I don't know, but I remember pondering that after checking it out.

    Tom
