A few years ago when I was starting on my dragster build. I got to the point of needing a brake master cylinder. I contacted Pat Foster and asked him what master cylinders that they used back in the 60s. He told me that they used a English Girling master cylinder. And told me that if I had trouble finding one that I could buy something real similar, but it had a plastic cap instead of the metal one. And gave me the name and part number for it. Even gave me the name and phone number of a autoparts store that I could get one from and the price! Very nice thing to go that much out of your way for someone that you have never meet. It helped me alot. Another thing about him. At the Hot Rod Reunion in Bowling Green a few years ago. During the cackle fest all the cars would sit in their spot and do their thing. But the English Leather Corvette funny car would move about 6 inches forward, hard. Like how you would stage one of those car. And that motor was pounding! The way that car would lurch forward that 6 inches at a time was bad ass. I told my friends that that had to be Foster in the seat. And when I got home I noticed that Cole was here on the HAMB askin if the Old man was getting out of control in Bowling Green. That was realy cool to see. R.I.P.

    Damnit Pat!
You blew into our lives like a hurricane...
You ate all of our home grown spinach...
You told us stories that made us laugh so hard we almost pissed our pants...
You made the whole neighborhood talk when you would show up on your "scooter"...
You taught us to cuss "Foster-style"...
You taught one of us to run yellow lights...
You taught us to eat raw fish plastered in "nitro paste"...
You let us help with your last car...
You made us fall in love with you and your scruffy o' ball-fetching dog...
But most of all, you became the best friend a couple of middle-aged broads could ever have asked for.
Just want to say "Thank You". Thank you and we miss the hell out of you. We plan to get stupid on hot sake and stop at McD's in your honor. We even plan to name the next male dog that comes along either "WhattheFuck" or "Foster", what do ya think of that? We didn't know you for long but what a nice ride it has been. We hope they have Nitro in Heaven - don't want you getting bored.
    Forever "Your Girls",
    S & A

The racing superstars of my younger days like Mr. Foster and Al Hoffman are being called home all to soon if you ask me. My gosh I remember reading about Pat Foster's brilliant career in the pages of car magazines growing up. That was the days before the internet of course. Both a top notch driver and a fabricator extrordinare. Do they even have those anymore? No these guys from the "golden era" were unique and marched to their own drumbeats. My prayers and condolences go out to Cole Foster and the rest of the family. God Bless.

May he be three days in Heaven before the devil knows he's dead.

Never met the man, but from his photo's his eye's looked gentle. His talent was well documented. He did an even better job at raising his family. Some more tear's fall, Goodnight, Mr. Foster.
