I bought a swap meet GM Posi for my coupe and the seller didn't
know what kind of car it came out of.It was only tagged as
    "Pont -Olds Posi".
I need to buy a U-joint and most of the parts guys just give you
a blank look if you don't know a year and make for the part you
    need.
So I'm counting on you smart guys to recognize what year and
make of car I need to buy parts for.
Hopefully the pic attached will work.
Thanks in advance for any advice.

60's 8.2 10bolt. Id need more pics for app(springmounts etc.):)

  3. Hi, that's because they need that information to plug into a terminal before "it" will give them a part number. Think of it this way, you call a cab company and ask for a cab. What happens? The guy wants more information like a address...same with with parts, without the info....Anyway - I would take it to a driveshaft shop & they can match a u-joint from what they have in stock & then be able to tell you what you have. Good Luck!

  4. Take the yoke off and take it to the parts store. Tell them its a 1968 Chevelle 307/powerglide car, see if that fits and it should, then get a new pinion seal while you are there also. You will want to put new seals in it anyhow, also new axle seals.:)

Look on the front of the passenger side axle tube for a stamping. A few letters and numbers. It will be about 3" or so out from the pumpkin.

    ZBuick,if you're talking about the weird S shaped spring-like gadgets,it
does not have those. (I have seen those before).
All I can see is coil springs that seem to be for putting pressure on clutch
    discs.

No chevy axles were held in with C-clips(inside the diff). BOP axles were retained at the outer bearing with 4 bolts. and the pinnion yolks have different splines between the two. the S shaped spring you mentioned was used in the 70's GM posies.

Hey Clays...I went to the parts store today to try to get a Borg-
Warner #HD9 ujoint and they said that was not a good number.
Do you have any way to check that number you suggested?
What you said about the rear end like ...no mounts for tr. arms,
wheel bearings on axles,no c clips...is all correct.
    Thanks for any ideas...MickeyD
