.....the rest of the kustom scene as "May Cause Dangerous" nears completion!

It was another FULL weekend of work on the Starliner. The whole Gambino crew sanded their fingers raw and their arms limp on Saturday...ALL DAY and into the night! I didn't sand any, but I did do some other menial stuff like finishing up the grille, kept them fed, entertained and hopped-up on energy drinks. Everything but the doors and dash got buffed out.......and WOW!

Sunday, yes Easter, the striper, Gene Worth, got busy with his brush. His freehand straight line work is pretty amazing. He finished everything but the doors, front fender sides and the dash. I think he'll be doing the dash tonight. When he was done Alex and I hit the trim assembly hard and got pretty far along. I'm beat, but not as bad as Alex must be. He's been living at the shop (literally) for days to work on the car.

The rest of the glass and assembly will be hot and heavy this week to get ready for the Goodguys Get-Together this weekend.

Just a reminder of the early stages...

Exactly! They have gone way above and beyond with this project and should be VERY proud. Look for them camped out by the car this weekend in Pleasanton!

Taillights do not fit the car...they appear, to me, as: "Oh man we need some different taillights, let's just glue some plastic on them."

Sorry, KIRK!!!...they need more thought...just as much as the grille got...!!!

YOU want out-a-sight taillights...??? You've seen what my son (www.Dichrome.com) comes up with, let him blow some for you.

  14. Love the taillights and the striping really finishes off the panels beautifully.

I was wondering what radical idea you had for the taillights. I think you nailed it. I love 'em. When will it make it to Texas? The Roundup? I would love to see it in person.

oh my sweet jesus. you better keep those tails!

  17. That's what makes them work IMO. 60's show cars seemed to have lights that were exactly that "let's glue some plastic on them".

    taillights HAAAAAVE TO STAYYY!! PLEASE!

ps - is it me or has Alex aged 15 years since the pileup! hahha

  19. I love everything but the tailight lens decorations. Flat Lee lenses would be prefered by me [maybe with a chrome spike or 2] but I'm more of a hotrod guy than a custom guy so I'm biased against anything that isn't functional.....like continental kits and fake spotlights.
Great lace and cobwebs. I see more 60's-70's lace paint in the future.

So the car will be in Pleasanton?

That is reason enough for me to go!

I say NO to the tailights. I think they take away from the car. Too much for such a clean car.

He has. Blame May Cause Dangerous.

  22. He's right! I've seen some of his work.....verrrrrrrrrrry tasty and super different...all in real glass with various and sundry items imbedded in the glass. I say give Roger's kid a chance to show his stuff. You won't be sorry.

The car is so freaking beautiful! Unfortunantly, I agree with stude dude. They look like an after thought to me. However, I would never say one negative thing about that car. Only say this because you asked.

Damn, that is killer.....esp. the grill.....
But the taillight stars? look 'cheap' compared to the rest of the car.....

  26. The pinstriping really adds a great touch- makes the color come alive!

... I agree with SinisterCustom; the tailights don't live up to the rest of the car. As busy as the piantwork is, you might want to try something more subtle for the tailight treament (maybe even making what you've done shorter/more shallow)?

WOW-the grille and headlights brought it to life for me. The tail lights are 50/50 to me. At least they're not LEDs. Congratulations to all involved.

anyone that doesnt like those lenses is FUCKING INSANE

those are the bees knees... otherwise known as pieros mouth

  30. Car looks awesome...but the lights....Hmmmmm....If they look better in 'real life' than the pic's, then great....But they seem to me a little 'afterthought'...kinda like....OH FUCK....we need some krazy kustom tail lights..

    Just my 2 cents.
