I also drove my 32' to the Hoffman/BARC Annual Fish Fry tonight.. And asked permision to post a few pics.

WHAT A LINE UP!!! (warning.. some new stuff, but you'll understand) For those of you that don't know.. The Hoffman Family is the WINNINGEST USAC race team in history. THere driver line up is unbelievable. CHECK OUT THERE WEB PAGE!!

Thats a new Pavement car, the Hoffman Family Midget, one of the new Dirt cars, and of coarse.. A V6 car from Rich Voglers last year.

Wends night I went over and helped them move cars around for the party.. I was the only one that "fit" in the Vogler car, so I got in it and was pushed by the four wheeler around the farm... That was a big deal to me. (contrary to what most believe, this is not the car Rich lost his life in.. Just one from that incredible season)

Ha ha! one season way back, I had Hi hopes of selling Richard Hoffman on the Idea of sponsoring my Modified.. He at least hung the drawing up in the shop..:D:D

Josh, not to put down the Hoffmans or anything but they are not the winningest team in USAC history, Steve Lewis is the winningest with 114 wins, my dad is 2nd in all time owner wins with 97. That is not counting URA or AAA just USAC, and he passed away in 1977 so Lewis has had 30 years to beat his record.

  4. Here's the same car when I had the chance to warm it up in the early 70's.

Hey "MAC MILLER"... Good meeting you! Your cars were killer. I tried to get pics but there were to many people around them. Boy, with the "Correct" tires coming from Coker.. Those cars are gonna be perfect.

I'm gonna have to build one.. Dad and I were talking about it on the way home. We'll have to have an Injected 327 in it though.:D

    Thanks again..

Would anyone have a picture of the Blankerbaker Special. This car was mentioned in the Joie Ray bookThey did not know what small town in southern Indiana it came from. It was ownded by the Blankerbaker Chevolet Company in Fredricksburg Ind wich is about 30 miles west of Lou Ky I lived 5 miles west of there an they would sometimes test it between the two towns. Other times they would have it on display in there showroom.

Josh, I wanna share something with you about Don Cumberworths offy Midget that you you took pictures of, some race cars are "over restored" not that one his cars ALWAYS looked that good. He also ran the Lakes, was a member of the Bungholers, ran in the first drag race at Santa Anna, and much more. I hope you talked to him last weekend.

I did! He was a cool guy! He had a bunch of pictures of it there and went over every one with me and Dad. At first look, I thought It was "over Restored" But then I looked at the pics.. There is one of it brand new ready to race.. IT WAS THAT BEAUTIFUL!! There was also one with him and two Cali girls posed on either side of him in the car that was killer! He liked talking about that pic! Definatly THE REAL DEAL!!

Hey Josh, It was great to have you guys and your new car at the Columbus meet Saturday. I followed the build here and was hoping to see it in person.
I got a chance to look it over purty good and took the opportunity to try it on.
Very comfortable and a really first rate job. Great attention to details.
Hope to see you and your dad at some of the "on track" meets this year, That car will be very welcome and popular.

Here's the cars we had there:

  19. Okay, time to interrupt since I have a captive audience. I'm looking for an '85-'87 Nance like the one Bubby Jones drove back in the day.

Bubby Jones only drove for my dad one time, BUT he won the Turkey Night Grand Prix the one and only time he drove for him

  21. Hey that Nance car is a wide frame too. He built those for the Ford engines.

Some vintage Lawrenceburg pics I dug out of my collection. This thread alone has caused me to start building nerfs for my roadster and plan a near future midget build.

This is Fred Cleveland's car. He crewed on Foyts car and built this out of spares and used up parts. Very nice for the burg back in the day.

This is Dick Gaines diving under Danny Millburn. Millburn ended up winning, Gaines second. I believe this is the car that Gaines won the Knoxville nationals in.

What a sight coming out of four. Look at the guys head sticking out of the cage in the back.

    Yes.

  28. Yes, Steve Kinser was a stand in for Gaines until he healed up. I beleive that is a Mitchell chassis.

    Hey guffey,

By any chance was that Fronty Ford once "resting" outside in a near West suburb of Chicago ?
I remember one just like it on my paper route about a thousand years ago.
