I am putting a rear end from a 74' Maverick in my car. It's from a junkyard and didn't have any brake parts on it. I can't seem to find a diagram for the mighty Maverick rear brake assembly. It's just a Ford 8", so can I use a diagram from any 70's Ford rear? I usually leave one side in tact and copy it for the other size, but I can't this time. Please don't make me look at Maverick/Comet sites to find the answer!!!!!
All the drum brake assemblies from the sixties on are about the same. Some of the parts are different but if all you need is a ref. It will work.
If you call a decent parts house you can get the parts needed.. shoes come as set. rear wheel cylinders each need left and right small parts kit. need two. they come with springs, cups bars, etc... Jason.
If you want an illustration, go to the library and look in an old Motor's Manual. All Ford 8 inchers were all the same as far as brakes go, unless there were ones before self adjusters. The 9 inchers also looked about the same as the 8 inchers, so pretty much any illustration of a Ford set up will work.
About the only part that will not come with the small parts is the cross bar for the emergency brake. You should be able to use them from any Ford 8 incher.
