Reading through 3wLarry's thread about selling his car got me thinking that we need some sort of HAMB Hall of Fame to keep track of the amazing work that gets chronicled here on the HAMB. Not sure if the new owner is a HAMBer or not, but with that car leaving the HAMB, it seems we should have some kind of way to remember/honor it. There are a ton of cars on the HAMB that amaze me, and would be deserving of induction into a "Hall of Fame". I would leave it to Ryan to decide what the criteria should be, how it would work, and whether or not it's just a stupid idea to begin with. But, there have been a ton of cars that have captured the attention/imagination of the HAMB, collectively. Off the top of my head, there are: -The Roach Rod -Denise's Big Olds -McPhail's Chevy (both of them?) -Larry's 3 window -Cleatus's Chevy -BobBleed's roadster -Roothawg's Drag'n'fly -Butt Reynold's Chevy -Plowboy's Lunar Lander/Atomic Punk -Etc -Etc -Etc I'm sure we could nominate cars all day long with the amount of talent represented here. And I haven't been around long enough to remember a bunch of them. Anyways, I'm thinking a section of the HAMB where either an individual page, or thread gets devoted to each car. Hopefully, it could include as many specifics about the time/tech/parts that went into the build as possible and a bunch of photos.
Yeah. I had a vision of his fast back the very second I hit the submit button... Obviously there are a ton of cars on here that are worthy of nomination for a variety of reasons, and there's no way anyone one person is going to think of them all. Nor would they be able to do it in the few minutes it took me to write that "proposal"... I just think that some of the cars/builders deserve some recognition.
I am not sure if he has been on the HAMB in a while but, the yellow roadster from "six5monster" from NorCal........also, AV8's blue roadster and LA32's/Louies 32' roadster from back in the day. Chris Nelson Kansas http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=4302
I agree. Once you start giving special recognition to certain individuals, the lesser of us will feel...."inadequate" I like feeling like I can rub elbows with ANYBODY here. Rock star status = inflated egos. (sometimes)
thats what i was thinking too. youll get like that bobbleed fella, he's an A hole er i mean an Acehole! titus
how about a hall of fame where the only way to get in to it is if you are dead.. it would be something to remember you by. just my 2 cents
Im kinda double minded about this. On one hand I want to call out a list of BADASSES, but on the other, I agree we dont need the "rockstar" thing here.
Coupe-de-cab,if you are going to make a list. And where's the other pics. The criteria would have to be a regular contributor to the HAMB or maybe only cars that the build has been chronicled on the HAMB. rolf's also, and definitely Bass's contributions and Live Wire.
thanks for mentioning my CAR (not me)tragic59! there have been so many cool cars actually chronicalled from start to finish here... man, this got me thinking,,, lukesters chevy pu( i remeber when he cut the door in half down the middle because the gaps werent good! i thought WTF!,,then he pulled it off where you couldnt even tell!) what happened to that dude?? SEWER PICKLE! that merc was so cool,,, Dr.J's flat bed!(hell yeah! an original HAMB ride!) Killer's 56 Speed Addict's 39 for sure! Bass' shoebox,,,talk about hall of fame... Big Ric's 40,,,,it made TRJ! (another,,were is that dude?!) Germ's SHITBOX(tm) or his civil rights cruiser hahha DRD's model A coupe NAD's PACKFORD and his 53/54 chevy just a few i was thinking of when i saw this thread... i think this is a cool idea ,,a few mention previously werent even what i would consider true hamb cars though,,,a HAMB CAR ,,to me,,is something someone has built from start to finish with pics and updates along the way,,some of those cars mentioned(while belonging,or built by hambers,,werent actually "built" on here)
My idea was to include only cars whose build was chronicled on the HAMB. The KIRK/Gambino Starliner that's being built right now could be an example. A builder that's giving us regular updates on a car that we're all pretty jazzed about. The Brian Bass fast back is another in the works right now that we're all being kept up to speed on. But I would also add that the car has to be "finished" while on the HAMB as well... I can't remember who was building it (sorry!) but that 40's Caddie with the early 50's rear fenders/tail lights would have been a killer nominee for the hall of fame, but it got sold before completion... In a way, I look at it as giving the props to the deserving cars. I mean, The Rodder's Journal can only feature just so many cars in their pages, right? So, why not chronicle our own little "museum" of the HAMB's best and brightest?
Thanks for the props on the RR... it was a fun car... and I miss it a lot. I learned a lot building it... hopefully I was able to pass that knowledge on to others. Here it is with my boy Nate at the wheel... along with his Kindergarten class of '04
