ok so i was leaning on a 44 gallon drum today and had a thought
with a little work you could turn one in to Two bomber style seats

cut like so and roll the edge over some tube, add a pad or blanket for your backside and it could work out alright

    any thoughts

Fun idea, but I think it's always going to look like a cut-up 55 gal drum.

"Back in the day" (60s) that was a common lo-buck method of making seats for our lo-buck dirt track modifieds. Kinda floppy after their cut up and need some bracing. A real "bucket" seat for sure.

Back in the 60's The dirt track modified guys made driver seats out of 15 gal, or 120 pound grease drums.
The ones everyone uses for shop garbage cans.

    Rootie sure types fast!

Seems like if you did it right and you were carefull you could get two from one drum

There was the lower part of the shopping cart too, that was somewhat popular.

Place the cuts right and one of the seats could even achieve perfect bunghole alignment.

  9. ....I had that very thot awhile back, you'd have to lean the seat back to be comfy but that could be done with the brackets. Sure would be cheap bomber style seats.

If you have a fat ass this will work great other wise it will look like you recycled a drum .I have my doubts on how it will look ..
    Good luck

You could weld some 1/4" round bar along all of the cut edges to add rigidity and to kill the sharp edges. Here's a seat I pulled out of a '60s modified dirt tracker as an example (notice seat belt holes).

  15. That strategiclly placed barrel bung could make a very convenient drain on longtrips.
