    GaryC.

    Jazz and Hot Rods
Think about it. These are the only two, unique, American art forms.
Both, lyrical and smooth, powerful and edgy.

The Pierson Brothers 34 Ford coupe was all of that.
In a time when only roadster were considered hot rods, this
star spangled coupe hit the salt. Few of the cars in the early days
of dry lakes and salt flats racing were even painted. Kandy Blue
and Red over white, a 9" chop, and meticulous craftsmanship
set this car apart from everything else. It began it's racing career
on the streets of the 50's, and on its first dry lakes runs was quickly
up to 150 mph. Various owners and engine combinations propelled
the car to well over 200 mph. It was retired from active racing in
the early 1990s. It's now restored to an absolutely jewel-like condition.

I'm thinking of doing a series of illustrations called
"Legends of Hot Rodding". Let's call this one the first!
