Here is a vintage, aluminum piece I picked up. Anybody have an idea what it is or off of?? The mopar emblem is painted, not a decal.

    Thanks,
    Dan

    the old logo is pimp.

  3. Wonder if it was a lampshade for a little desk lamp or something at a Mopar parts counter or something? Pretty cool shape.

  4. I dunno, but it'll make for a great (small) air cleaner!

  5. Isn't that a Mopar motorcycle gas tank for a midget?

I agree with some kind of lamp shade, or a part of a parts counter display. That logo would be the 1940s and I've not seen anything like that in any of my acessories book.

That logo would have been seen at the dealership only, not anywhere in the vehicle. (except on like an accessory windshield washer bottle)

IMO lampshade Don't explain the two holes in the top. Just my .02, but to me it looks like a piece that would hold a headlight out of one hole and maybe a turn signal out of the lower, but of course this is just a guess, it looks to be mid to late 30's styling, but beign aluminum is really throwing me for a curve. The good thing is, there is someone on here, that will chime in with the correct ID.

This is just a WAG, but when the light was mentioned, it looked like it might be a light base. Top hole for the flex part with the bulb, the other hole for the switch....

  18. Heater cover is my vote.
These were often gasoline powered heaters (kinda scarry huh)
Right under the dash usually in the middle (atleast on a 41 Ford Pickup)

  19. Yeah, on second thought, it looks more like a base for something that sat on the counter at a Mopar parts counter. A desk lamp, or maybe to hold up some accessory they were trying to sell for your car, or a little lighted sign.

You should make a cool little desk lamp out of it. They probably have everything you'd need at Lowe's or Home Depot: the socket, the hoop thing, the switch, the hollow tube and nuts, the lamp shade. I think they have a universal lamp kit, to make your own lamp out of any kind of base or to fix up an old lamp.

I was thinking base of a lamp myself when I first seen the picture. There really wouldnt be a part or replacement part for that matter with a decal like that I wouldnt think.

That's totally a desk lamp or desk fan base.

Is it painted, or an old waterslide decal that appears to be painted, bonded to chipping lacquer?

How heavy is it? Maybe it is the base to a gooseneck lamp. One hole for the neck and one for the switch. Just a wild ass guess.
