Mr Pratt would seem to like his cars slammed but unchopped. That LeSabre is pretty wild. Does he do his own paint?

Jeff Norwell, that's a great drawing, I've seen your cars but I never saw your figural work, very cool indeed.

  3. Wow, that guy really has an eye for style and elegant simplicity.

If I remember correctly he painted the shoebox..Lacquer! I remember seeing a lot of 2x4's in shop that were used to make his "paint booth."

I remember Lee when he was in West Des Moines Iowa in the early 70's.
We my partner Lynn Ridenour and myself went to visit a freelance writer named Roger Kilborn at his house about taking pictures of our 48custom Ford(see my avatar)and Lee was in the driveway muddin up the hood on that Buick.Yea he has great taste when it came to cars and custom paint. We were able to get our custom in the May 1972 issue of street rod with the help of Roger Kilbornwriting the story up and taking pictures. If I remember right Lee went thru a nasty divorce and then moved to LA in the early 70's to futher his art skills.Well I left Iowa (Marshalltown) aprox 3 years ago and now live in Fort Worth Texas. Does anyone have a contact for Lee
"E Mail" or snail mail? :D

Lee does everything himself in his "loft" at the Brewery in LA from design to fab.to paint & Body.(all except upholstery) Huge Cudos for that , as has been said on here a real gent, low key with a great attitude.I'm honored to call him a friend & a better friend would be hard to find. Now happily married to Suzanne & kickin ass with new projects as well as upgrading the '40.

Not sure about the source of those taillights. I'm sure they're mentioned in the always excellent TRJ feature stats.

I just noticed the whole taillight treatment has a slightly, ahem, female contour and detail. That's not to say it isn't elegant and artfully executed. Definitely a sculptor's handiwork.

All of this dude's builds have "it". Style for miles, baby.

I think what I like most about his shoebox is its shape. it has a short stubby look to it. completely against what most are doing today (overly low and overly chopped). I love the fact it is unchopped (or if it is, very little).

    Less is more

I was shooting a car at Lee's place here in L.A. and we helped him move Suzanne's Porsche so he can load it to haul it to Austin........ Austin is the new So-Cal

Well I guess the secrets out. We are losing Lee to Austin. Actually he has been spending more time in Austin than Cali. I guess this gives me another excuse to visit. It's just so damn far from Salinas.
And Rikster I wouldn't let Lee see that picture of the dingleballs and shit on The Buicks dash. That was Terry Cooks idea of a East Coast custom touch. Definitely not Pratt.

I;m going to go find a picture of the Buick now... the new owner finally ruined it ... I told Lee about it.. and he was kinda happy, cause now it really isn't his car.
