I've got "Dad can I barrow the car" on VHS, bought it about 10 years ago at a Mom and Pop type movie rental place.

  2. Seems to me there's a later "CHiPs" that has a backstory where Ponch has to get his old race car out of storage to track down a guy - and the car's a full-on '55 Chevy, fiberglass tilt nose, radiused wheel wells, dual-carb motor - the works. They beat the hell out of the sides of it before they were done, too. Or maybe it was the guy who replaced Larry Wilcox.. I don't remember. They sure wrecked a lot of cars on that show - I remember one where they must have modified a '69 GTO (!?!) to be a ramp, for staged highway accident #1,034 or so, as it was run over from behind by another car that basically launched over the top of it, and shot it with a fairly low camera angle from in front of it.

While on airplanes anyone remember the book about the boy who builds a model airplane for a rc contest and during the test flight it crashed then he rebuilds it to win the contest? I read it in 1st or 2nd grade cira 1966-67. The story may have been written in the 50's as the books we had in the Catholic school I went to were old then.

It was a short story maybe 10-12 pages.

I think he called the plane the Silver bird ?

  7. There was a movie called "Little Foss and Big Halsey" with Robert Redford and another guy travelling from motocycle race to motorcycle race but I don,t remember any rods in it.

  8. Casey,

Is that the one where Donald wins the dream car, and the boys pick it up for him?

Ya, I remember that one, Robert Redford and J. Michael Pollard (C.W. Moss in "Bonnie & Clyde"). They hauled their bikes around in beat up a mid 50s F-100. Redford's character was kind of an asshole and he was continually brushing his teeth with a toothbrush he kept in his back pocket. Kind of a wierd movie, I remember watching it on TV as a kid because I liked the truck.

I recall seeing a Leave it to Beaver show where the Beav bought a '36 coupe without telling Dad. (or something like that.) Any one know where that one is?
