Goodbye Supremes.

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by Groucho, Jan 21, 2008.

  1. It freaked me out. But, for the 1st time I do NOT like Supremes on one of my cars. Hell, as a joke I put em on my Vette, and it looked better than this. Anyway, here's where I'm at now.

  5. I think it looks better with the chromies! Astros look better on cars than El Caminos. Except 59 and 60's that is...

    Here is your problem.

    The paint screams "fifties",......but the wheels say "sixties"!

    They just send a mixed message, like the car doesn't know what it wants to be.

  11. Hey, get this guy a drink. Which wheels do you speak of mystery dude? I showed 2 versions

    the chrome wheels (non astros) give a better visual weight balance.

    i think the reason the supremes dont work on this, is because of the scallops. i think the shapes between the two of them conflict. i think the toneu (i cant spell that word) also disrupts the white accent color scheme (long lines of scallops, round circles of pinners, and big box of the cover.) then again, WTF do i know...

    i do think it looks better with the chromies-- on this car.

  18. I never thought of the Tonneau(?) as a distraction in the equation. But I sure did not like the Supremes with the paint scheme. That's for sure.

    Thanks for the picture of the '64, Groucho. Sorry about the miscommunication on the wheels, but Jose has that effect sometimes. I'm a sucker for chromies and I think they out shine the Supremes. Both rides are bitchen.

    my take:
    supremes= late 60's cars, and 70's lowrider scene.
    chromies= late 50's early 60's customs& drag cars.

    I like the supremes better on your car, the crom/rev. are too chrome on that car for me.

    Like I said before, the astros fight the look of the car. The chrome reverse fits the overall theme perfectly.
